luke stared up at the ceiling as he laid beside michael in the older boys bed.

he absentmindedly traced his finger over the fabric of his shirt as he stared at the blank platform above him.

"i love you." michael whispered

luke didn't speak as michael glanced over at him.

"baby, are you okay?" michael asked.

luke didn't speak. he could hear michael but he had absolutely no desire to talk at the moment.

"babe-"

"i just don't want to talk." luke whispered.

"you're worrying me though." michael whispered, scooting closer.

"i'm fine, michael." luke mumbled.

"did i do something?" he asked softly, and luke turned his back to him.

"not everything is about you, michael." luke muttered, and michael furrowed his eyebrows.

"baby, please talk to me-"

"i don't want to!" luke sighed, and sat up, grabbing his shoes from the floor.

michael watched in confusion as luke put his converse on his feet.

"luke, i'm sorry, okay? i love you. please don't go." michael said softly, standing up.

"no you don't." luke scoffed.

"what the heck, luke?!" michael asked and stood up as soon as luke did.

he stood in front of the door as luke tried getting past him.

"let me go, michael!" luke growled.

"no. i don't know what's going on but you're obviously upset about something. you don't need to be alone right now." michael said softly, and luke glared at him.

"baby, please talk to me. you're scaring me, sweetheart. i don't want you to be upset," michael said, and ran his thumb over luke's cheek. michael had little tears in his eyes; he was worried for luke.

"don't cry." luke whimpered softly.

"tell me what i did to you." michael said softly, and luke shook his head.

"nothing. you didn't do anything to me. i- i'm just really stressed out right now, and- i know that's a crappy excuse, but it kind of feels like life is punching me in the face right now. i'm sorry for taking it out on you." luke whispered.

michael walked over and sat on the bed, holding luke's hand as the younger boy stood in front of him.

"tell me what's going on. you know you can talk to me." michael whispered.

luke sat on michaels lap, and looked at the older boys collar bones.

"my parents are getting a divorce." luke said almost inaudibly.

michael didn't say anything. he didn't know what he was supposed to say in a situation like that. he just wrapped his arms around luke tightly, holding him stronger than he ever has before.

"you're gonna get through this." michael whispered against his neck.

"it's hurts.." luke whimpered, his voice cracking.

"i know, baby. i know. it's gonna be okay, though." michael whispered, and luke nodded.

he held michaels hand so tight.

"i love you, mikey." luke whispered.

"i love you."

luke laid against michael's chest for the rest of the night. the older boy stayed up for a while just to make sure luke was okay.

before falling asleep himself, michael pressed a soft kiss to the top of luke's head.

"everything's gonna be alright."
