; "symphony" by clean bandit
i've been hearing symphonies
tea was not the romantic type. definitely not. sure she could take hugs, but she never hugged back. that was how awkward she was. fortunately for her, her boyfriend wasn't on the idea of pda.
before all i heard was silence
before the two came together, they were acting like a bunch of tsunderes. they never dared to make the first move, and it was always bokuto starting things up like lowkey setting them up on dates. but the owl-like guy couldn't be there forever to run the relationship, now could he?
a rhapsody for you and me
once they came together, their world took on colour. they saw the world in a different and more colourful light. their lives were better with each other around, no doubt about that.
and every melody is timeless
they had the sweetest mornings compared to anyone else. well, maybe other people's ideas on having good mornings were different, but anyway. akaashi would make them breakfast, and tea would be that sleepyhead of a girlfriend sitting at the table, rubbing her eyes. he would smile and hand her her breakfast, and she would thank him and manage a smile.
life was stringing me along
in their own opinion, they thought life was going on smoothly, and nothing could come between them. right?
then you came and you cut me loose
like always, the heavens say no.
was solo singing on my own
they struck her with a disease. bone marrow failure. and she would be gone within a few months.
now i can't find the key without you
akaashi could not believe it. she was such a healthy person. she never showed any signs of pain. well, maybe on those times of the month. other than that, no. how could she have contracted this disease?
and now your song is on repeat
he promised to make the last few months of tea's life the best one ever. he took her to whatever places she wanted to go, did everything she wanted to do, and made sure she had her list checked.
and i'm dancin' on to your heartbeat
"tea? you've been in the bathroom for fifteen minutes now," akaashi called from the other side of the door, "are you okay?"
no response.
"tea?"
nothing.
that was it. something was wrong. he took down the door, breaking the lock. that didn't matter at the moment.
and when you're gone, i feel incomplete
she was lying on the floor, knocked out cold. her head had some traces of blood, as well as the sink. she must have hit her head against it as she fainted.
he scooped her up in his arms bridal style and ran down the stairs.
please don't let this be the last time i'm carrying you.
so if you want the truth
"she'll be gone in a few weeks," the doctor explained with an apologetic look on his face, "but she can extend her lifeline. although, the success of the operation is ten percent. if she doesn't pull through, she'll die on the spot."
he threw a glance at her. he felt rather conflicted, and wanted to know her decision.
i just wanna be part of your symphony
"i'll do it," she said, determination in her eyes, "whatever string of hope is left, i'll grab onto it."
she turned around to give him a smile, one that was filled with hope yet sadness at the same time.
will you hold me tight and not let go?
before entering the theatre, she gave him one last smile and a thumbs up. he gave a smile and said, "i'll be waiting."
symphony
the operation began. within an hour and a half, the results were about finalised. as she lay there, eyes closed due to anaesthetic, the doctor muttered something to his colleague.
the heart monitor nearby let out slow beeps, and then one last one.
like a love song on the radio
akaashi walked over the grounds with a bouquet of white roses in hand. it had been a while since he last visited her, and he might as well bring something along, considering the fact he came empty-handed the previous round.
will you hold me tight and not let go?
upon reaching, he placed the flowers down and knelt down in front of the gravestone. letting silent tears drip down his face, he whispered, "wait for me. i'll see you soon."
