Chapter 1

Namjoon was never the type to fall for a girl too easily. He was either too picky with a girl's personality or too busy with creating a future for himself. He loved to take the bus with the longest route back home so he could gather inspirations and pen it down in his notepad. Not many understood his passion for composing songs, saying it was a waste of time.

But then one day, he met a girl who has a similar perspective on life as him. Namjoon saw her on the bus, seated just in front of him. She was furiously typing away on her laptop. He was amused at how her lips would scrunch up while she typed. His eyes were drawn to the words displayed on the screen. Her words were...beautiful he thought. They evoked curiosity in him, prompting him to continue reading the paragraphs. Only then did he realised it was a story.

"I think you're looking for the word, ambivalent," he suddenly said. The second the words left his mouth, his hands flew up and clamped them shut.

She immediately slammed her laptop shut and turned around, "Were you reading my story?"

His cheeks instantly became as red as her lips. Ah, you idiot, he thought to himself. As a self-named composer, he knew how it felt when people take a peek into his notepad, filled with personal words.

"I'm sorry, I really am," he quickly apologised. "I shouldn't have read your work. I, all of the people should know." Namjoon shrugged sheepishly as he lifted his notepad.

She looked him up and down before her eyes landed on the notepad. "A writer?" she asked.

"Composer, actually," he corrected her. "And uh, you can't blame me for taking a peek. Your words reeled me in. They're really captivating."

Her shoulders relaxed slightly as a small smile played on her lips. "Composer. Reeled. Captivating. I have to admit those words strung together in a sentence got me intrigued with a stranger on a bus."

Without a doubt, the two strangers clicked on that day, on that bus. A writer and a composer; they were similar but different. The two strangers soon became two friends that fed off each other's ideas when it came to their own work. They were like two peas in a pod, agreeing and disagreeing on the same things. But that doesn't mean their relationship was always smooth sailing, considering she had a boyfriend.

He wouldn't deny that he fell for her, so hard. As the months pass, his love for her grew bigger and bigger. She was everything he never knew he wanted. And seeing her happy with another guy cuts him deep in the heart. Especially when that guy is an arrogant coward.

"Yeaps, I found the key," Namjoon said as he placed the pot back. "I'll call you back when I find it."

He let himself into her apartment after ending the call with her. They were supposed to meet in half and hour but she had left her wallet back at home. And since he only lived a block away, it made sense for him to retrieve rather than her having to travel all the way back.

Namjoon was looking around her room for the wallet when he heard the front door open. Checking his watch, he decided that it couldn't have been her. That was when he heard his voice.

"I'm telling you the story is a winner. I read the entire thing and I feel like it'll bring our company a name."

He didn't know whether to announce his presence or stay silent. At the end of the day, he was in someone else's girlfriend's room, alone...

"Yep, I found her manuscript...But...god I don't know I starting to feel guilty. It is her story...she's been working on it for a long time."

Her manuscript? Namjoon prayed to God that it wasn't what he thought it was. If her boyfriend really decided to steal her story and publish it as his own...she would be devastated.

"Fine...you can help me make a few changes. Just promise me you'll publish it under my alias."

Without thinking, Namjoon's feet took him out of the room to face her boyfriend. "You're not going to do that are you?"

The guy was surprised to see Namjoon in the house. He immediately hid the manuscript behind the file he was carrying.

"I don't know what you're talking about," the guy chuckled nervously. "Anyways, what are you doing in her apartment?" He had on a facade as he changed the subject. But Namjoon could see the fear in his eyes.

He was weighing his situation. Was Namjoon going to tell on him?

There were no words that could explain how angry he was. If it were up to him, Namjoon would have the guy on the floor, his fist not stopping. But knowing her, she hated violence and would hate him for even touching the guy. He decided that he would rather confess to her about he heard. Namjoon grabbed her wallet and left without a word

"Hey! C'mon man...You don't understand the position I'm in. My company is in debt and my boss is banging on me to do it. Look, I love her. I really do but...this is my job man..." the guy tried to reason.

Namjoon shook his head and left the apartment. If you loved someone, there was nothing that you would do to betray the person. If the guy wasn't going to confess to her then Namjoon would do it for him.
