// Chapter 3 - Twisted Fate //

**Taehyung's POV**

"Ho hey, check it out, James Dean just arrived," Jin announced with a smirk, wiggling his brows as Taehyung enters the lab.

Namjoon looks up from his notes and does a double take. Gawking at his friend as he lowers his glasses, "Hello, lemon head." Both he and Jin stared at Taehyung's stark blonde hair peeking from under his black beret.

Taehyung never, in a million years, thought that he would ever dye his hair blonde. Yet here he was, at the bittersweet age of 21 sporting yellow hair. He's had 2 people comment on how it reminded them of Naruto on his way down to the lab. Despite it being slightly racially inappropriate for the fact that he was Asian and blonde that they immediately think of the anime, Taehyung accepted their remark.

"Lemon head, I get. But why James Dean?" Taehyung questioned Jin on his preferred nickname as he takes a seat on the wooden stool. He takes off his beret and fluffed his freshly dyed hair.

"James Dean, the dreamy American blonde actor?" Jin exclaimed in disbelief, unable to grasp that his friends didn't see the link.

Jin has a thing for old American movies ever since he stumbled upon the 1955 movie Rebel Without a Cause. It had everything a 50's movie embodied. The typical bad boy with sexy coiffed hair, the cliche "fallen for the girl of the antagonist", and the classic dramatic scenes of trying to win her. After that, it became an hourly thing for him to spew out movie references that neither Taehyung nor Namjoon gets.

"Wait, wasn't he a brunette?" Namjoon doubted.

Their oldest friend gasps in offense. "He is most certainly not, mister. I've watched his movies and I can swear on the bible he's blonde."

"Mmm no... Jin, he was a brunette," Taehyung said, reminding him about Friday's movie choice - it had been East of Eden - and that he clearly remembered the protagonist being a brunette.

Jin squints his eyes and reconsiders his argument before slipping out his phone to do research on James Dean's hair color. Meanwhile, Taehyung shifts around in his seat to face Namjoon. Feeling the younger boy's stare, Namjoon cocks his head to the side and raises his brow.

"Yes?" he asks, tapping his chewed up pencil on the table. "Do you need anything?"

"Yeah, I -" Taehyung halts then decides, "Nevermind, it's not important."

He grins and offers the boy a thumbs up to show that he was fine, before waving him off to finish his work. The heavy topic he meant to share sat in the back of his head, desperate to be discussed. But instead, he faces the table and takes out his own textbook. They had midterms coming up and he hadn't even started on revising the notes a second time.
