A/n: I had to update. I just felt bad... Oh! I have also updated my Legends of Irene Origins book. Let's try to reach 1k reads on this book by next week. If so, expect some heated times with Garroth. *insert lenny face*
Ruby's P.O.V:
"H-how is she doing?" I asked as I entered the semi-lighted room. Laurance glanced up at me before shooting a warm smile in my direction.
"Hey. She's doing fine, I guess. She hasn't woken up though." I nodded my head at his reply. I sat down on the edge of the bed where Kat lay. She slept soundly as her chest rose when she inhaled, and retreated when she exhaled.
Laurance chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. I looked at him curiously.
"What is it?" I asked. Laurance just shook his. "I-It's nothing! Maybe I've just been staring at her too much," he muttered. He paused before speaking again.
"It's just, Katrina, she's cute when she sleeps. I don't know. Maybe I'm being ridiculous." My eyes widened as I gasped.
"Or maybe," I pried, "you're just falling in love!" Laurance shook his head.
"No. I'm in love with Aphmau. At least, I'm pretty sure of it." I rolled my eyes.
"You know, maybe you should just get to know Katrina more so you can determine whether you like her or not. It doesn't hurt to give it a try," I suggested. Laurance seemed to be in thought for a moment.
"Maybe," he replied. I slumped my shoulders forward. This was not going according to plan- not that I had any plan- but either way, it wasn't working.
"Okay," I concluded; ending the conversation in the process. There was an awkward silence in the room. I turned to look at Laurance.
"Can I trust you with one of my problems? I mean, if it isn't too much of a burden," I questioned nervously. Laurance turned to look at me.
"Well, sure. If you're comfortable talking about it." I took a deep breath in before speaking.
"So, I like this guy. I-I've been trying to hide my crush for him ever since Kat and I started to live in Phoenix Drop. Although, I haven't even spoken to him that much. I just see him once or twice a week and, that's it." I turned to Laurance again for his reaction. He leaned back in his chair.
"Okay. Why don't you try talking to him?" he asked. I shook my head and hid my face in my hands.
"Well, I'm nervous to talk to him for start, and he isn't even on this expedition with us," I replied, my voice muffled from my hands. Laurance sighed.
"Would you mind telling me who this person is? In case I know the person, I wouldn't mind helping you," Laurance reasoned. I pondered for a second. I then smirked.
"Maybe," I replied. Laurance deadpanned.
"Are you seriously doing this?" he asked. I shrugged. "Maybe," I repeated. Laurance frowned.
"I only used the word 'maybe' once when I responded to you!" I shrugged again.
"Oh well." Laurance smirked and shook his head.
"Are you forcing me to date your sister?"
"It isn't forcing. You don't necessarily need to know who I have a crush on," I retorted.
"But I want to know!" he replied. I shrugged again.
"Then you're forcing yourself." Laurance sighed in defeat. At that very moment, (Y/n) entered the room.
"Hey guys. How's Kat doing?" she asked. I nodded.
"She's fine. I came to watch her with Laurance." (Y/n) eyed me suspiciously.
"And, is everything okay? I heard arguing from our room." Laurance shook his head.
"Nope. Nothing's wrong." He quickly changed the subject. "So you and Garroth eh? Sharing a room as well? Careful over there. Wouldn't want little Garroth's and little (Y/n)'s running around the island," Laurance laughed. (Y/n) narrowed her eyes on Laurance. She immediately looked towards me. I tried my best to contain my laughter, but failed miserably.
"You guys better watch it," she threatened before shutting the door. Laurance and I bursted into a fit of laughter.
"Nice one!" I exclaimed. We were so busy laughing, we almost didn't hear the small voice that called out to us.
"Guys? What happened?" I quickly turned to where Kat lay. I held one of her hands in mine.
"Kat? Oh, thank Irene you're okay!" I cried. Laurance stood up.
"I'll go get Aphmau and (Y/n)," he said before leaving.
