2nd Person Point of View:
With a careful eye on Ruby, who had sped up ahead, you listened intently to Aphmau's every word. Her inquiries, her comments. You needed to know how much Aphmau knew.
How much she had forgotten.
You and Aphmau took careful steps into the forest. The two of you had decided to walk northwest of the small clearing; the same path Garroth had explored with Aphmau on the first day of arrival. The southeast still remained a danger. The large ditch resided there, idly. Waiting to be filled up.
'I should really remind Garroth about that,' you thought. 'I wouldn't want anybody else to fall.'
You were nervous. You didn't know why you were nervous. Why should you be? Aphmau simply wanted to know who she really was.
Or at least, who you once knew her to be.
Every now and then, you'd make comparisons in your head. How similar were Aphmau and Irene? How different were they? It was ridiculous, in a sense. Considering they were technically the same person.
"So...we are actually sisters? Blood-related sisters?" Aphmau looked down, her eyebrows creasing as she thought deeply. "Why wasn't I aware of all of this?" you sighed.
"That's exactly what I've been trying to tell you since I arrived in Phoenix Drop. But you didn't exactly give me a chance..." you bit your lip softly. "Especially since I gave you the impression I was crazy. Again, I'll admit, jumping out of the tree wasn't one of my greatest ideas. I was just so excited to see you." Aphmau smiled weakly before looking down at her hands.
"You don't have to be sorry. I get it. I was very stubborn, wasn't I?" You chuckled softly and shook your head.
"You weren't all that stubborn. You were just...confused. I hadn't even approached you properly. I'd just assumed you already knew who I was." Aphmau shrugged before looking forward.
It was getting late. Very late, in fact. You were almost positive Garroth would wake up if you weren't back soon. He'd beg you to come back to bed. Of course, you couldn't.
You were with Aphmau.
And not to say it with such sourness. You didn't mind being with Aphmau. She still had Irene's aura; one thing you were comfortable with.
But you'd also be comfortable under your warm covers with Garroth by your side.
"How did I forget?" she asked suddenly. You looked toward Aphmau, curiosity written all over your expression. She repeated herself again. "How did I forget that you were my sister? What made me forget?"
"Well, you--" Pausing, you carefully planned out your words, not wanting to say something that would trigger her. "Irene...after Shad's revolution, she had lost almost everyone. All of the other Divine Warriors had passed on. Their absence caused her to feel lonely--- depressed." You swallowed a lump down your throat, willing yourself to hold in a sob at the mere memory.
"So, she locked herself in a dimension--- a dimension she and I had created--for 400 years. She hadn't returned ever since."
"The Irene Dimension?" Aphmau inquired quickly. "Is that the dimension you're talking about?" You nodded affirmatively.
