"Here we are," you announced with a sigh, fishing for the small set of metal keys in your leather money pouch. You unlocked the door to your inn room swiftly before swinging it open. "Ruby, could you please fetch Laurance and Katrina?"
Ruby nodded. "Of course." You guided Garroth and Aerith into the small complex, shutting the door behind you before pulling out a few chairs from underneath the small dining table.
"There are only two chairs but please...make yourselves comfortable." Garroth placed the crate he held from earlier on the floor next to the entrance before turning around to eye your quarters. The space was meager but homey. Past the small dining area were two twin beds, each bed parallel to opposite walls of the room. To his far left was an open door to the toilet room and on the furthest wall to the back of the room was a door to what seemed like a balcony.
Garroth glanced at the beds, eyeing the unkempt sheets of the bed to his right. He strolled towards you, a playful smile on his lips. "My guess is that this is your bed, isn't it?" You rolled your eyes, returning Garroth's smile with a roll of your eyes.
"How hilarious," you chided, moving to hug the blond once more. You let out a sigh, allowing yourself to melt into his embrace. "Glad to know your ability to tease me is still functioning." Garroth responded by pressing a short kiss to the top of your head.
"Always," he replied, watching as you pulled away slowly, hands trailing across his shirt. You paused when you felt something beneath it; on his left side, just above his hip. You frowned, glancing up at Garroth before raising the fabric a tad. You let out a small gasp, your grip tightening on his shirt.
"Garroth...is this a bandage wrap?" Said blond hummed with a sigh before enclosing your hand in his.
"It is. The wound has healed for the most part, though." You pouted, expression ridden with worry. You pried further.
"What kind of wound?" Garroth hesitated for a moment, his blue eyes trailing down to look at your hand in his.
"...A stab."
"You were stabbed?! By who?" Garroth clenched his jaw with a subtle shake of his head.
"That's...that's what I can't explain, Love. I can't explain the wound, I can't explain how I arrived here—"
"You...you don't remember?" you inquired, colour draining from your face. Garroth shook his head. "Then, what is the last thing you remember prior to O'Khasis?" Garroth closed his eyes in thought, squeezing your hand softly.
"I remember...you. We were relaxing by the falls on the island. You told me you'd be taking a stroll around the area. I closed my eyes...and then I awoke on the shores of O'Khasis in the most excruciating pain..."
"From the stab wound?"
"Yes, from the stab wound. I lost consciousness and woke up in—" Garroth paused before regaining his wording. "I woke up in the castle infirmary..." You pressed your lips together.
"The 'castle' as in...your old home?" Garroth swallowed thickly before nodding. You gloomed, tilting your head to the side and raising your other hand to graze his bicep. "Oh, Garroth...I can imagine it must have been tough." Garroth cleared his throat, glancing to his left as though he'd just remembered Aerith's presence. Said lady sat quietly on one of the chairs you had pulled out, seemingly preoccupied with little creases in the skirt of her gown.
