Your Point of View:
I heaved in annoyance as I waited outside the latrine of the ship.
"Ruby!" I called out, beginning to get impatient. "Come out of there!" A muffled voice came out from the other side of the door.
"Never!" she responded playfully. I sighed and rubbed my temples. Before I could reply her with another reasonable statement, I felt two (muscular) arms wrap around my waist. I smiled faintly before slightly leaning my back towards them.
"Hey Garroth," I greeted while trying to keep my voice light. Garroth kissed my cheek in response. My face flared a rosy colour. It made me feel more than thankful that the oil lamps against the wall were off.
"She still hasn't come out yet, huh? You really frightened her," Garroth said after a moment of silence. I laughed quietly.
"I don't know. Ruby knows that I'm joking with her. She probably thinks that if she exits the room, I'd snatch her and tickle her to death. Which I'm actually about to consider doing." Garroth chuckled; his voice making me want to just turn around, grab him, and kiss him on the spot.
But I had a bit of self-control. Just a bit.
"I... had been meaning to talk to you about something," Garroth said, after I had decided that it was no use just standing in front of the bathroom and waiting for Ruby to come out. We made our way to the deck of the ship.
"Yeah? What's up?" I asked. Garroth sighed.
"I couldn't sleep the whole night," he started. I smirked lightly, desperately trying not to laugh.
"I think that's a 'you-problem' Garroth," I said playfully. Garroth rolled his and smiled.
"Not like that. I'm serious," he continued. "I meant..." Garroth seemed flustered as he desperately tried to find the right words to say. I cocked my head to the side as I tried to figure out what he was saying. Garroth, then, abruptly froze.
"That," he whispered. I squinted my eyes in confusion. "What?" I asked. Garroth pointed to the forest.
"It's coming from there," he answered, as he kept his eyes trained on the forest. I raised a brow before turning to face the direction of the forest. I thought for a moment.
Garroth might be on to something, I thought. I turned back to face Garroth and placed my hands on his shoulders.
"Garroth, I'm going to need specific details on how you're feeling, and what you're trying to say. I'll try to understand you to the best of my abilities. But I just need you to cooperate with me, okay?" I reasoned carefully. Garroth nodded as he laid his eyes on me.
"There is this feeling I had been getting all night," he breathed out. "I thought that if I just got some fresh air, maybe the feeling would calm down." I nodded, signaling for him to continue as I gently massaged his shoulders to relive the tension in his muscles.
Garroth relaxed a bit and continued. "I had made my way here, in hopes of feeling better, only to feel much worse. Aphmau had came by a bit later. She told me she was experiencing the same feeling as well. I told her to get some rest while I went to go and wake you up." Garroth finished talking, assuming that I knew the rest of the story.
I couldn't exactly pin-point what Garroth meant. Although I could sense where he was coming from.
A strange feeling? I pondered. Which one of the divine experienced weird feelings?
And then, it hit me.
"Wait," I began. "Is it just "a weird feeling"? Or, is it like you're sensing some sort of... presence?" Garroth nodded.
"That's exactly what it feels like." I let out a breathy laugh.
"Okay. That explains a bit," I said while letting my hands drop from Garroth's shoulders.
"You've figured it out?" he asked hopefully. I tilted my head unsurely.
"Well, not exactly." I began to walk around the perimeter of the deck, in deep thought. Garroth followed suite to keep up with me.
"What do you mean?" he asked. I bit my lip. "Well, I know that of all the divine, Irene, Menphia, Esmund, and Enki would occasionally get feelings in which they would know when another divine warrior is close."
"Which would explain why Aphmau and I get the same feeling, right?" Garroth asked. I nodded.
"Exactly. I mean, every magiks user could sense another, but this was different. Those four divine warriors could sense the presence of each other. Here's the part I don't quite understand," I said before stopping and turning to look at the forest.
"You've been around both Irene and Katrina. Irene has her relic, and Katrina has Menphia's. You don't get that eerie feeling around them, do you?" I interrogated. Garroth shook his head.
"No, I don't."
"And as I had stated before, the only divine warriors that could sense each others' presence were Esmund, Irene, Menphia, and.."
"Enki," Garroth whispered, finishing my sentence. I breathed out heavily, still looking out into the forest.
"Which means, Enki might be lurking beyond the forest. And wherever he is, he's probably closer than we think."
A/n: Hey guys! I know it's been a while. I've been working on my other books lately. Plus, I caught a virus last week. It gave me these flu-like symptoms, and I just couldn't get up from bed.
Ugh.
Oh right! Many of you seemed to like the last chapter. It was a full house! Was it the title? Or... what? Anyways, tell me if you want more chapters like the previous one, okay? Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
