two weeks later...
"Sweet creature... had another talk about where it's going wrong. We're still young. Don't know where we're going but we know where we belong."
I opened my eyes with a smile, knowing that it wasn't the Harry Styles singing as he approached my bed, but another teenage sensation.
I sat up as Shawn sat on the edge of my bed.
"I was really hoping for Harry," I told him. He handed me a cup of coffee and chuckled.
"Maybe next time?" he told me.
"Just kidding. I was hoping for you. Thanks for the coffee," I replied, and he shrugged.
He brushed my messy hair with his fingers. "It's 10:30 and you're still not up?"
"You know, I liked it more when you were singing Harry Styles," I told him.
"Is that all I'm here for? To bring you coffee and serenade you with One Direction?" he asked with a grin.
"It's just Harry, Shawn. My God," I said, sipping my coffee.
"Whatever, Margot. I don't really care," he replied, and I smiled.
"Wanna watch Friends? All day?" I asked him, patting the bed next to me for him.
"Could we? Doesn't seem very productive," he replied, sitting next to me.
"I'm not about productivity, Shawn. I'm about these three words: Monica. Chandler. Proposal," I said, and he laughed.
"Wait, the proposal episode? Yeah, we're definitely watching that," he replied.
"But should we start from Ross' wedding so we can see the evolution of their relationship?" I asked, and he shook his head.
"You're over-analyzing again, Margot. Proposal episode," he told me.
"You're definitely right," I said before turning it on.
"Always am," he said with a shrug, and I couldn't help but laugh a little.
The episode was good, one of my favorites of all time, obviously. I ship Monica and Chandler so freaking much.
But I couldn't help but let my mind drift away from the show. My mind drifted to him, to his hands, which were so close to mine, and his lips, which made me feel some kind of way. And his mind, wondering if maybe he was thinking of me right now. Wondering if he just wants to turn off the TV and...
"Margot?"
I looked at him, and he was looking at me, not the usual giddy kind of way. A more meaningful way.
"What?" I asked, his eyes penetrating me.
"I think you're so perfect," he said, just looking at me, and my cheeks turned bright red.
"I'm not," I replied, and I felt the gap between us become smaller. His eyes were filled with longing, and for the first time I realized that he really wanted me. Me. And the crazy thing is that I wanted him too.
