@margotkatefranklin: "you taught me about your past thinking your future was me."

"I look like such a mess," I said as I stared at myself in the mirror in the bathroom. I was rocking an old t-shirt I got from volleyball camp in like, 2014, and the comfiest pair of grey sweatpants. I had thrown my hair into a messy bun, and not the cute kind, the really messy kind.

"I think you look great," Shawn said from the room, sitting in a chair and looking at his phone.

I huffed, turning off the light, walking into the room. "Liar."

He looked up at me, a small smile appearing on his face. "I'm not lying, Margot Kate."

I decided to leave it at that, knowing he wouldn't back down and neither would I. "Whatever."

He gave me a look before looking back down at his phone.

If I was thankful for one thing, it was the fact that there was no IV stuck in my arm anymore. When the nurse took that out of my freaking arm this morning, I had never been happier. That thing was going to be the death of me, I swear.

I sat down on my bed, knowing the nurse would be in here soon and they always get irritated when I am not in my bed. They literally think that I can't be trusted to walk around. Do they know I've been walking on these legs my whole life now and they still work fine?

As if on cue, my usual nurse, Rachel, walked into my room. She was pretty nice, probably like 28 years old, with really good eyebrows and shoulder length blonde hair.

"Hi Margot," she said as she headed to the side of my bed.

"Hi," I responded, and Shawn smiled at me as if he knew I hated this.

"How are you feeling?" Rachel asked, looking up at me for a moment.

"As good as you can feel after being stuck in a hospital for two weeks," I replied, and Shawn shot me a look.

"You radiate positivity, Margot Kate," he said, earning a laugh from myself and Rachel.

"Anything hurt?" she asked next, and I shook my head.

"How's the wrist?" she asked, taking my casted wrist in her hands and looking at it.

"Fine. I mean, I hate this cast, but it feels fine," I replied, and she smiled before putting it back down.

"Well, the good news is that you're looking to get out of here in about a week. And your kidneys are healing beautifully," she told me, and relief flooded through me. A week. A week.

"Really?" I asked, and she chuckled and nodded.

"That's right," she said.

"Did you hear that Shawn? My kidneys are healing beautifully," I told him as Rachel did some more nurse things I didn't understand.

He chuckled. "I'm very proud of you."

"I'll be back tomorrow, Margot. If you need anything just let me know," she said, and I nodded.
