"I'm so glad that's over," Margot said, and I smiled. "Look at my wrist!"
She spun around in the parking lot, her arms moving freely straight above her. She was beaming.
"So what are your big plans now that you're officially cast free?" I asked her as we got into my car, and she looked as if she was thinking.
"Hold your hand," she simply replied, taking my hand in hers. It did feel good.
"Ok, I support that one," I told her, letting go to start the car. "What else?"
"Everything. I'm just going to be much happier doing everything," she replied, smiling to herself. She looked at her phone and began scrolling. She stopped after a moment and gave me a look.
"Delete this!" she said, trying to hide her grin. She held up her phone to show the picture I had posted on Instagram after she had returned to the waiting room, waving her cast free wrist.
I smiled and shook my head. "No way. You look so cute."
"I do not," she said reluctantly. She examined the picture for a few seconds more before putting her phone down. "I look like trash."
"Oh, shut up. You're hot, and everyone thinks so," I told her, and her face only got redder. "Especially me."
"Stop. I am not," she said with a smile, turning away from me.
"Nope," I replied, and she rolled her eyes. "It's true."
I glanced at her out of the corner of my eye as I drove. "Look at how productive we've been, and it's only 10 A.M."
As if on cue, she yawned and shook her head. "I was just going to ask if you wanted to go back and take a nap," she said, and I laughed.
"How did I know you were going to ask that?" I replied, and she shrugged.
"You just know me so well," she answered, a small smile on her lips.
"Right."
"So will you?" she asked hopefully.
I acted as if it was actually a hard decision to make. "Tell me why I should."
