Shaye's POV

Jay still has been blowing my phone up & leaving little message but I'm paying him no mind. Even though I thought about what he said about knowing where I live. Dude we were never in a relationship for him to be acting crazy so I should worry maybe. Today I was at my parents house cause I had nothing better to do

"Ra'Shaye have you been looking for a job yet," my dad asked holding Kai who was making baby noises

"Yes daddy. I've been looking," I lied looking at the magazine that was in front of me

"Why do I think you're lying to me Shaye. What did I tell you. 6 months then you were on your own to pay your bills," my dad said

"I know dad, but I have put in some applications. No one has called me back then I never have a baby sitter to watch Kai," I said

"Bullshit Shaye cause its mighty funny you find a baby sister when you want to go out with Imani or that guy you're talking to now," he yelled at me & my mom walked in

"Why are you yelling Terrence," mom said taking Kai from him

"I'm not yelling. I'm trying to talk some sense in our daughter, that she needs to find a job. I didn't waste money to send you to college for 4 years, for me to have to keep taking care of you," he said

"I didn't ask you to take care of me. You offered knowing my situation when I broke up with Mike cause I was supposed to move with him, daddy," I said. I know he's just talking cause that's one thing Terrance Edwards won't do. Is let his kids be out in the cold or homeless. 

"Terry, you did & I don't want her working while Kai is still this little. I don't trust daycares," mom said bouncing Kai in her arms

"Look money don't grow on trees. I'm footing the bills for 2 households. Its not like I mind, but I want you to grow up & get your own now Shaye. You're almost 23 with a child now. Faye hush up or you take off work & babysit full time" dad said

"I will if I have too. Don't hush me I have a say so in this too Terry," my mom told my dad

"Not a lot when I'm the one footing the bills. Now Shaye stop using you breaking up with Mike as an excuse cause I told you to put him on child support, but you don't want to," he told me

"I'm not using it as an excuse but it did set me back. I'm gone find a job. I told you as long as he's doing what he's supposed to I wouldn't put him on. I was just waiting til the beginning of the year to start fresh," I pleaded. Plus it sound good when I came up with it in my head lol 

"I think it's a good idea. Then I can start working from home so I can watch Kai cause I've been wanting to do that for a while," my mom said feeding Kai her bottle that was on the coffee table. 

"Faye you gotta stop babying these girls & let them grow up. Like Ray, that's why I made sure he enlisted in the military & made a man out of himself," my dad said

"So what you trying to say daddy. That Ray is better than me cause he doesn't have a baby or need you to take care of him," I asked looking at him 

"Did you hear me say that, no. I said I don't mind taking care of you cause you're my daughter & you do have my grandchild, but like I also said you got to grow up. Me & your mother are not gone always be here & always bail you out. I said I would pay your rent for 6 months until you found a job & its been 4 & you haven't done nothing," he said

"Look, all I want her to worry about is taking care of Kai right now. Terry if you don't want to pay her rent no more I will for the rest of the year, gosh," my mom said. I love her cause she always comes in to save the day. Not that I need them to pay my rent. But if they offered yea I'm a let them
