Chapter 89

Shaye's POV

I was at work bored cause I miss Imani. Man we used to have fun at work but no she had to go on medical leave the rest of the year. I never heard of that shit, but John told me we had a new worker I would be training

"Knock, knock," John said on my door

"Come in," I replied

"Hey Ms. Ra'Shaye your new trainee is here," John said

"Where is he at," I asked

"Right here. Ra'Shaye, Jonathan, Jonathan, Ra'Shaye," he introduced us & surprisingly I already knew him cause we went to high school together

"Jonathan Reed," I said

"Ra'Shaye Edwards is that you," Jonathan asked

"Ya'll know each other. What a small world," John said

"Dad, we went to high school together," Jonathan said throwing me off

"Dad, John I didn't know you had kids," I said

"Yea, he was actually the only one qualified. Don't give him special treatments because he is my son either," John said

"Oh trust me I won't," I said looking at Jonathan smirking

"Well dang, but I think I am going to like it here," Jonathan said licking his lips. He was always such a flirt but I was with Mike

"No flirting. That's against company policy. So I got my eye on ya'll," John said walking out

"So Ms. Ra'Shaye how have you been since high school," Jonathan asked me taking a seat

"I've been well, you know the norm," I said

"You know I had a mean crush on you back in high school, but that's when you got with Mike. You know he didn't like me cause he thought I was competition. Are ya'll still together" he asked. Like nigga get outta my business 

"Yes we are. We just had a daughter last year, but that's not important. I'm here to train you not you flirt with me," I said

"Oh trust me you would know if I was flirting. But since you have a job to do I will let you do it," he said

"Ok then," I answered

I trained him on the computer systems & how to do the paper work. Surprisingly he caught on fast so it wasn't much work to do, but it was lunch time & I was starving

"Since you did a good job at training me on the first day. How about I treat you to lunch Ra'Shaye," Jonathan asked

"I think I might have to decline," I said

"Come on, I know you're hungry cause I hear your stomach growling. My treat," he said right after my stomach growled load again

"I guess only cause you said you're treat. But don't try no funny business cause I know you," I said grabbing my purse

"No funny business, I promise," he said holding his hands up

We left & went to lunch at a spot close by 

"So Shaye catch me up on what's been going on since high school. Last I heard Mike had a baby on you," Jonathan said

"Um that is none of your business, but what's been up with you. You're the one that left Atlanta," I said reversing the conversation on him

"So you're trying to turn it around on me. But I left Atlanta & went to UCLA. Then I stayed in LA until last year & came back here. Now I'm here working for my dad. What about you," Jonathan said
