Chapter 98

Imani's POV

It was December, It was almost time for Chasity to go on winter break. Their high school was having a winter formal. I was helping Chas get ready. I did her hair & helped pick out her dress

"Are you excited," I asked curling her hair

"Yea, but I really can't wait to prom. That's when we're going all out," she said texting on her phone

"I know I can't wait either. But who is this new guy you're going with tonight," I asked cause I heard about him, but I haven't met him yet 

"Jalen. We've been talking since like last month. He plays basketball," she said

"So what happened to Daniel," I asked cause that's who she was just talking to when they moved here

"Ugh, he's old news. He messed with too many girls," she said

"I told you boys ain't shit. But don't be jumping from boy to boy. First it was Brandon, then Daniel now Jalen," I said

"I'm not, but hurry up cause Jalen  just said he's on his way. We gotta meet Ashley & her date before we go to the school," she said

I finished her hair then helped her get dressed. We went downstairs where everybody was

"Awe, Imani you worked a miracle. I didn't think Chasity could ever look this good," Khalil joked

"Lil you're lucky mommy in the room cause I was bout to say something I was gone regret," Chas said fixing her strap on her shoe 

"Settle down, but look at my baby. Imani hooked you up," Mrs. Woods said moving a piece of Chasity's hair out her face

"I try, ya'll know I gotta have her looking right," I said holding Kennedi in my arms. Her little butt wouldn't be still. She knows how to sit up. She just be making all that noise 

"Alright so yo little date need to hurry up & get here so I can have a talk with him," Chris said leaning on the counter 

"Yea, we gotta talk man to man with him before you can leave this house with him," Khalil added

"Don't scare her date away now boys. I met him before, & I'm the parent so I should be asking all the questions," Mrs. Woods said

"How bout none of you ask or say anything. Just say hi & bye. He just texted me, he's outside," Chas said grabbing her stuff 

Her date came in. He was a cutie & he seems nice. We took pics of them cause they were color coordinating. They had on black & silver. I curled her hair in some loose curls with a part in the middle. 

"Chasity if you get something on or lose my fur. I'm beating you, do you understand me," I asked handing her my fur cause it was cold outside 

"I'm not, I'm gone put it in my locker when we get to the school. But can we please go now," Chasity said looking to Jalen 

"Wait before ya'll leave. Jalen I need you to sign here & initial here, so that I know you understand that I am not responsible for anything that's happens to you if my sister doesn't come back like you left here with her," Khalil said holding a piece of paper & pen to him

"Oh yea & after that I need your finger prints & a copy of your ID," Chris said

"Are ya'll serious," Jalen asked looking at both of them 

"No they're not. Now we are leaving. Ya'll two need serious help," Chasity said grabbing her clutch heading to the door

"Have fun kids, but not too much fun. Jalen drive safe," Mrs. Woods said walking behind them
