Chapter 75

Shaye's POV

I was picking up Kai from my parents house after work. My mom & Mama Renee switch sometimes when one has something to do or vice versa

"Look Kai your mommy is here," my mama said feeding Kai some smashed up spaghetti while she sat in her high chair

"Mama," Kai said clapping & smiling with spaghetti sauce everywhere. It was on her face, in her hair, on her hands & on her shirt

"Hi mommy's dirty baby," I said kissing her forehead, "Hey ma," I said before sitting at the kitchen table

"Hey baby, you look tired," she stated putting another spoon full in Kai's mouth   

"I am. Kai hasn't been sleeping at night unless she's in the bed with me or Mike. So she's been sleeping in the bed with us," I told her

"Girl you just opened a can of worms giving into her. Now she's gone always try to sleep in the bed with ya'll," she told me giving Kai her bottle that had apple juice in it

"That's what Mama Renee said, but that's the only way she goes to sleep or she will cry all night. Don't nobody got time for that," I said

"So what you do is either stay in the room with her or let her lay with ya'll until she good & sleep. Then put her back in her bed cause once you start that its hard to stop it," she told me

"We will try it tonight, but I doubt if it works. Where is dad & Ashley," I asked getting up washing my hands & getting some of the spaghetti cause I was hungry

"They should be here in a minute. Terry had to pick Ashley up from cheer practice," she said wiping Kai off, but she was fighting cause she don't like it

"Kai cut it out now," I said sitting back down with my plate

"Ugh," she said whining

"Stubborn just like you. She tried walking today, but you know she's lazy. Soon as I let her go she sat down & crawled," she said taking Kai out her high chair

"She does that all the time. When you put her in the walking she be all over the place. She pulls up on everything too. She was on the stairs the other day, so Mike had to buy a baby gate," I said eating

"I've been told ya'll to get some of them before she hurts herself. But let me go change her diaper before ya'll leave," she said walking out

I don't have to do nothing when my mama is around. She's a baby hog. At first I used to get mad but now be my guest. I finished eating then went in the living room playing on the floor with Kai when my dad & Ashley walked in. She had an attitude so she stumped upstairs without speaking

"Well hello to you to Ashley," I teased but I heard the door slam

"Slam another door Ashley. I'm a come up there & take it off the hinges & then beat yo ass," my dad yelled after her

"What is wrong with her," my mama asked him

"She's acting like Shaye did when she was that age. She's mad cause she can't have her way," he said looking at me & taking Kai out my arms

"Wait what I gotta do with this. Why bring Shaye's name up. Plus I knew better than to slam the door. I kicked it closed," I joked laughing 

"I kicked yo ass right after too. But what she do now Terry," my mom asked him

"She's mad cause I told her she couldn't go with her friends this weekend cause she's still on punishment until she bring that D up in math. I was serious," he said lifting Kai in the air & she just giggling
