For most of the day, Phil was following Dan around like a lost puppy, which neither minded much. When it reached lunch, Phil was no where to be seen.

Truthfully, Dan never went to the cafeteria for lunch. He normally went out to the front of the school and listened to music for a while, for quite a few reasons. For one, he doesn't like eating much, especially around a large group of people. He also hates everyone at the school, including himself. Plus, he'd be sitting by himself in a room full of people, and would probably get bullied for that. He also gets anxiety around rooms filled with people.

Dan goes to his locker, putting his things away and heading out to the front. He jumps, turning around as his homeroom teacher calls his name. "Dan!" She shouts as reach the front entrance to the school.

"Yes?" He asks, turning around and putting on a fake smile. His heart races at the thought of having to speak to anyone, much less a teacher.

"Where do you think you're going?" She asks accusingly.

"Uhm, I normally go outside for lunch and uh.." He stutters nervously, pressing his lips together harshly.

"Since when?" She asks, a hand on her hip.

"My first year here.."

"Well, you aren't allowed to do that."

"I- Uh.. Okay." He looks down at his shoes, rocking back and fourth nervously.

"Go to the cafeteria." She commands strictly.

"Okay." He mumbles, turning around and heading to the cafeteria.

There's a growing anxiety in his stomach, making it impossible to eat anything. More than anything, Dan hated eating in the cafeteria. The weird looks, having to sit alone, getting bullied, it was all just too much.

He keeps his head down, making his way to an empty table and sitting down, taking a deep breath. The loud yelling and people everywhere almost giving him a panic attack. He closes his eyes, trying to control the rapid breathing and speeding heartbeat.

Before Dan can hardly look up, Sam, the kid that's been bullying him for over a year now, walks over and sits down across from him.

"Hey freak." Sam chuckles, nudging Dan's arm. He stays quiet, already shaking in fear of what Sam might do. "Hello? Can you talk or are you too stupid for that?"

"What do you want?" He manages to mumble in between shaky breaths.

"Hey! So the fag talks." He huffs laughing wickedly. "Did your parents disown you yet or..?" He chuckles, nudging Dan's arm again. "What are you doing here anyways? Don't you normally cry in the bathrooms or something?" He teases, making tears spring to Dan's eyes. He keep his head down so Sam doesn't notice the tears. "Oh come on, just do everyone a favor and kill yourself. Yeah?"

"Hey! Sam! Come on man! Leave the little freak alone!" Sam's friend, Jake, shouts.

"Why do you care about him anyway?" He yells back, glaring at him.

"I just don't want you to get in trouble. Come on, man." Jake mutters, making Sam roll his eyes.

"Whatever." Sam huffs, standing up. "See ya later, Danielle."

When Dan is finally left alone, he lets out a quiet sob, standing up and rushing towards the exit. With his head down he hardly notices as he bumps into Phil.

"Oh, Sorry!" Phil says, dropping his tray. Dan looks up with tears in his eyes at him. "Dan? Are you okay?"

"S-Sorry." He says, looking to the food tray now on the floor guiltily.
