||Phil's POV||
"Using my words against me are we?" I tease, falling back on the bed next to him.
"Maybe." He mumbles.
"Hm.. Maybe." I nod skeptically and notice a small giggle escape his lips as he bites back a smile. "And maybe you should listen to that too."
"Maybe." He says softly, eyes closed.
"Maybe." I repeat, a smile appearing on my lips.
"Maybe, maybe will be our always." He says, quoting the fault in our stars.
"Wow." I say sarcastically, laughing. I look over to see a large smile on his face and he's giggling quietly. I prop myself up on my elbows and look over at him. "Maybe."
"Maybe." He smiles, leaning in and pressing a quick kiss to my lips. He pulls away just as quickly and blushes. I lean over him and press another soft peck to his lips, neither of us knowing what we're doing or where we're going. Now my cheeks are burning red too and we're both smiling, our quite frustrating situation in the back of our minds. It's nothing too much, because we haven't even spoken much about any of this. I just know I'd do anything for this boy, and if that isn't love I don't know what is. I continue pressing quick kisses to his lips until my bedroom door opens causing the two of us to jump. There stands my brother, his arms crossed.
"Mom will kill you if she found out." He scolds shaking his head.
"Then don't say anything?!" I whisper shout.
"I didn't know you were gay dude." He laughs, leaning on the doorframe.
"I'm not!" I shout in defense.
"That was pretty gay." He scoffs, looking at the two of us.
"Can you not?" I huff, pouting.
"So you are gay."
"No!"
"What, of let's make out but 'no homo' right?"
"No! I'm bi." I say, embarrassed that this is how I had to come out to my brother.
"Oh.. So who's this? We just moved and you've already got a boyfriend?"
"He's not my boyfriend." I say quickly, noticing Dan move over on the bed, making me mentally scold myself.
"A hook up? I didn't pin you as the type to-"
"Martyn! He's my friend. And can we not talk about him like he's not here?" I cut him off, mad at him.
"Okay. Sorry." He says noticing the glossy look in our eyes. "What's going on then?"
"Nothing. We're just hanging out." I say, looking over at Dan who is looking down at his hands biting his lip. "He needed a place to stay for the night."
"And?"
"His name's Dan." I nudge him and he looks up, waving slightly.
"Hi." He says softly and I notice my brother look at him worriedly.
"Hey. What's with the black eye?"
"What's up with the rudeness?" I retort.
"Come talk to me for a sec." He says, motioning out the door.
"Fine." I sigh, looking to Dan. "I'll be right back."
"M'kay." He mumbles as I walk out the door and down the stairs to the living room.

"What the hell is wrong with him?" He whisper shouts, looking at me like I'm nuts.
"Don't be so mean! He's actually really sweet." I say defensively, crossing my arms.
"Okay. That's fine, but what happened to him?"
"Things aren't good for him. He's bullied and life hasn't treated him well. He's abused too. He just showed up and I couldn't say no and make him sleep in the cold. He doesn't deserve this. I've gotta help him."
"Don't get emotionally attached. People like him don't stick around." He whispers, sitting on the couch.
"What does that mean?" I snap, sitting next to him.
"He's clearly self destructing. He looks like he doesn't eat, he's got cuts on his arms, he looks like he hasn't slept in ages. Not to mention the bullying and abuse. Plus the mental problems. I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but he's not cut out for the world." He says sadly, making sure Dan can't hear us.
"No. No. I can save him. And I will." I say firmly, tears in my eyes.
"Phil. I know you want to be some superhero, but you can't save everyone."
"B-But I don't want someone like him to go through this." I sigh, wiping my eyes frantically.
"I know. No one does, but thats why most people ignore it."
"I can't do that!" I groan, my heart actually hurting because I can't stand the thought of losing such a sweet person.
"I know. I know. Just don't be surprised if he winds up dead one day." He says softly.
"I know. But I've gotta try."
"Just be careful I don't want this to break you too."
"I can fix him."
"People like that can't be fixed."
"You don't know that."
"How did you find him?" He asks changing the subject.
"Well I saw him the day before school started and I saw him crash his bike. His bars were low so I went to check on him."
"His bars?" He asks confused. My eyes widen and I turn white as a ghost.
"Uh, I.. No. Not what I meant."
"What is it?"
"You wouldn't believe me.
"Yes I would."
"If you don't I promise this is a joke."
"Okay."
"There are bars above everyone's heads. It took me a while to figure it out, but there is a full rainbow if the bar is full. The colors go down, staring at purple, for highest and lowest is red. Its a bar leading to your death. If the bar is red you have less then a day. Yours is blue. High blue. You've got a full life. Dan is on orange. He's got a month. When I met him, it was at red. The more he's with me, it goes up. I've got to save him. It'll be my fault if I don't."
"Phil. If you aren't fucking with me, thats amazing." He says after a while.
"I'm not kidding." I say my face serious.
"You are like, magic!" He exclaims, eyes wide with curiosity.
"Please, don't tell anyone. No one. Last time I tried telling someone I almost got myself killed. Long story." I say quickly.
"Okay. I won't" He nods meeting my eye. "Just know sometimes people can't be saved."
"I know."
