After World History, I tag along after Scott and Stiles as they make their way out into the hallway.

"Wha- he wants you to tap into your animal side and get angry?" Stiles keeps asking Scott about what Derek told him.

"Yeah," Scott nods once.

"Alright, well, correct me if I'm wrong, but every time you do that, you try to kill someone, and that someone's usually me or Emerson," Stiles looks at me and my brother.

"I know," Scott groans. 'That's what he means when he says he doesn't know if he can teach me. I have to be able to control it."

"Well, how's he gonna teach you to do that?" Stiles inquires.

"I don't know," Scott shrugs. "I don't think he does either."

"Okay," Stiles sighs. "When are you seeing him again?"

"He just told me not to talk about it. Just act normal and get through the day," Scott tells him.

"When?" Stiles demands.

"He's picking me up at the animal clinic after work," Scott answers.

"After work. Alright, well, that gives me to the end of the school day then," Stiles deduces, holding onto his backpack strap.

"To do what?" I ask. Stiles doesn't take his eyes off Scott.

"To teach you myself," he walks away. I start to follow him, but a strawberry blonde catches my arm, pulling me off in the other direction.

"H-Hey, Lydia," I stammer out, smiling uncomfortably.

"Emerson," she greets and smiles at me. She stops tugging me along when she reaches her locker. She unlocks it and sorts through her books, looking for something.

"Do – Do you need something from me?" I ask cautiously.

"Need something from you?" Lydia echoes, pursing her lips. "No, I don't think so."

I shift my weight back and forth between my feet. It feels like forever before she speaks again.

"You came to my house to see me, didn't you? When I missed school?" she checks her lipstick in a little mirror stuck to the inside of her locker door.

"Uh, yeah, Stiles and I did," I respond slowly. Oh god, does she remember what happened? Did she hear more than we thought she could? Is she about to call us out for stealing her phone and deleting her text? Does she know about the Alpha?

"Well, that was nice of you," she smiles at me again. "Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"Would you like to sit with me and Allison at lunch?" Lydia arches a perfect eyebrow.

"Well, I – Stiles and Scott kind of – I mean -" I stutter.

"I'm not taking 'no' for an answer," Lydia tells me as she closes her locker and starts pulling me after her again.

"Okay. I guess the answer's 'yes' then," I decide. I'm sure Scott and Stiles can go one lunch period without me.

I follow Lydia through the lunch line. Allison is already sitting at the table, reading a book. Just as I'm about to sit down at the table, Stiles comes up to me.

"I'll be right back," I tell Lydia and Allison, stepping over to Stiles.

"What are you doing over here?" Stiles asks me, confused.

"Lydia asked me to sit with her at lunch," I shrug. "She wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. She thought it was nice of us to visit her when she was absent."
