I wait in the hallway for Stiles to run down to the kitchen. I see him coming up the stairs and watch him make his way back to Scott's room.

"What's the water bottle for?" I ask. Stiles just makes a face at me and walks around me. "Hey, are you mad at me?"

"No," Stiles tells me. "I'm mad at your brother. He kissed Lydia, not you." Stiles stops and looks up at the ceiling for a minute. Half a smile spreads across his lips. I grab the water bottle from his hand and hit him on the shoulder with it.

"Stop imagining it!" I cry.

Stiles laughs with his mouth wide open. "Never." He takes the water bottle back and his face falls. He steps into Scott's room. "I brought you some water."

Stiles pulls out a dog dish from inside his jacket. He holds it up for Scott to see.

"Stiles, that's too far ..." I murmur. Stiles purposefully pours the water into the bowl, holding the bottle above his head for show. I look away towards Scott and cross my arms. When he puts the bowl down, I can see that it says SCOTT on the side.

"I'm gonna kill you!" My brother grabs the bowl and throws it at Stiles' back. Water flies everywhere and Stiles just straightens and keeps a blank expression. "You kissed her, Scott, okay? You kissed Lydia. Do you even – you know how long I've liked her, Scott. I am so – and, you know, the past three hours, I've been thinking, it's probably just the full moon. You know, he doesn't even know what he's doing, and tomorrow, he'll be totally back to normal. He probably won't even remember what a complete dumbass he's been, a son of a bitch, a freaking unbelievable piece of crab friend."

"She kissed me," Scott taunts from the floor.

"What?" Stiles asks, his shoulders falling. He looks at me for confirmation, but all I can do is shrug.

"I didn't kiss her. She kissed me. She would have done a lot more, too," Scott continues to tease Stiles. I watch as Stiles steps back out into the hallway and stands next to me. "You should have seen the way she had her hands all over me! She would have done anything I wanted! Anything!"

Stiles slides down the wall until he's sitting. I sit down next to him.

"Oh, and to answer your question, Stiles. Yes," Scott keeps going inside his room. "Yes, I can sense desire, and I know who the someone else is. She'll never like you like that Stiles! She'll never see you as more than a friend!"

Stiles jumps up and slams Scott's door closed. I can see his hands are shaking as he lets go of the doorknob.

"It's the full moon, Stiles." I pull myself to my feet, my legs protesting.

"Yeah, I know." His answer is short and it feels cut off.

"Stiles." My voice is barely audible to my own ears. I hesitate, but force myself to start again. "Stiles, who is the someone else?"

"Scott doesn't know what he's talking about," Stiles says and shakes his head at me.

"Maybe I'm not talking about the someone else that Scott says will never like you," I whisper. "The someone else you said you wanted to move onto if Lydia didn't have feelings for you."

"Yeah, I – I think you know, Mer," Stiles rushes out. "I'm pretty sure that you're smart enough to figure out that I only have – I only have one friend who's a girl other than Lydia that will only ever see me as a friend."

"Okay," I say quietly. I drop my gaze to my hands. All of the puzzle pieces start to fall into place and it suddenly becomes real. It's not just misinterpreted signs and Stiles saying the wrong things. He actually likes me.

I can't find any more words to say other than 'okay.' I can't find any more words to say because I think Scott might be right. I don't know if I could ever see Stiles as anything more than a friend, and he definitely does not want to hear the truth after the shit day he's had so far.
