Sunday night, I was sitting home alone in my room. Stiles was with his dad, Scott had left to go learn about being a werewolf with Derek, and Mom was working again. It was unnaturally quiet in the house.
I sigh, looking down at the pile of homework in front of me. I finally have the opportunity to get caught up with zero distractions, and yet, I still find myself - somehow - distracted. I squint at the math problem. It's problem number four, and suddenly, I find myself thinking of the vision I had of Jackson on the lacrosse field. It still blew my mind that I could see the future.
I look back at the math worksheet again and, by some miracle, I have the first vision in days. All I see is Jackson with claws at his neck. For a moment, I think it's just what I saw in the hallway with Derek, until I realize that Jackson's wearing different clothes and his face is pinned against the floor this time. I jump up, my folder and paper clattering to the floor. I can sense that the claws in my vision belong to neither Derek nor Scott.
I grab my phone, glad that I remembered to grab it from Stiles' Jeep yesterday. I text Stiles about my vision, dutifully keeping my promise to do so. When he doesn't answer, I make a face at my screen. Stiles always answers quickly. What could he possibly be doing?
I bend over, picking up my schoolwork from the floor, and toss it back on my bed. I shuffle through the pages in my math folder until I find the worksheet I was doing that day on the bleachers. I look at the two math problems, side by side. They've both given me visions of Jackson now and I find that odd. I'm trying to figure out a correlation between Jackson and math or the number four, but nothing. My phone dings as I'm studying the blank spaces.
I launch across my bed, grabbing it. It's a text message from Stiles saying he knows about Jackson and he'll fill me in later. How could he already know about Jackson? Did Jackson call the cops on a wolf? I wonder much later 'later' is.
