Chapter 15

"I really think you shouldn't come to the trip though..." you told Karma while you were heading to his home "you don't look okay to me, no matter what you say. You even have to hold onto my shoulders to walk..."

This was really the longest time you had spent touching this boy. Actually, him touching you. Even when last year he glued one hand of yours and one hand of his with each other during the first lesson at school, it hadn't actually felt that long.

"I am fine, stop it, I can't get used to your concern"  he said putting that smirk on his face.

"And I can't get used to you being calm. Like, seriously, what's wrong with you? Since I came to the infirmary you have been... slow and silent. You seemed just a little happy when I told you that I was home before. Are you sick?"

Even his body was feeling heavy on your shoulders. He looked... tired.

"So you mean that we are both unusual right now?"he said giggling.

Stop giggling...

"Hey, did you sleep at the infirmary?"you asked, trying to hide a bit of your concern. You couldn't even recognise yourself.

"No..." he murmured and your voice sounded louder than usual.

"Huh? Excuse me sir, but today you fell from a pole to the ground with your back, I fell on you, the pole fell on us and you defended us with only one hand... and you didn't even take a nap? Are you even serious? Oh, wait, you are not. Anyways, just take a bit more care of your body."

You could feel his gaze on you. His tired warm body was depending on you now. You wondered why you had to be the one taking him home, and at the same time, you felt blissful and happy to be able to see such a soft side of him.

"I couldn't sleep at all, okay?"he almost whispered, as if he didn't really want you to hear that "and I don't think I am as tired as I look like."

You suddenly decided it was your chance to joke with him a little.

"Really? Be careful, Akabane, I will assume that you are doing all this just to have the chance to touch me the whole time~"

Wow, I sounded so horrible just now. How is he doing it all the time?!

He didn't seem to find it appalling though. His eyes smiled along with his good-shaped, soft lips.

"That is probably the reason I do it"

You had a slight hypothetical feeling that you had blushed, and probably his steady, deep and tired voice had contributed to the crime.

Hot mess.

Yeah that's right, that was the only thing missing right now, great! Thank you for reminding me, dear self...

You were so pissed off by yourself and at the same time unable to even think normally because of Karma. The world was suddenly feeling so unknown and at the same time... beautiful to you.

Karma looked in front and nodded.

"We arrived" he said, waking you up from the abyss of your thoughts.

You had to look around for a little while to realise what was going on. Focusing all the time on Karma, you hadn't realised 1)it was really cold 2)his house was right in front of you.

I am probably more tired than him... yeah, that's the only possible explanation...

You had actually seen his house once again in the past. It was after Terasaka's birthday party, and the whole class was accompanying one another home. In the end, only you, him, Maehara, Rio and Kayano were left and Karma insisted on going back home alone. It was Maehara's and Rio's idea to follow him and see where he lives. But Karma realised their plan and just passed by his real house and kept walking to nowhere, until all of you gave up and left him alone.

You giggled slightly at that memory.

"I guess I will take my leave now"you told him, but then noticed that... he was smirking.

Oh God save me.

"Not so fast"he said and kept walking with you. You arrived at the door, which he unlocked. He nodded at you to enter, but you just nodded negatively.

"You told me to bring you home. Here we are."you tried to save yourself but he insisted.

"I also said I need your help and you agreed."he reminded you.

"What else could you possibly need?!"

He smiled sadistically at your whining. He was tired, but that couldn't prevent him from having fun.

"Should I remind you that tomorrow at 7:00 we have to depart, that I have been all day to the infirmary and that I haven't packed anything yet?"he said and slightly pushed you inside. You understood what he meant and hesitantly stepped inside. "Also, all I should be doing now is getting a rest so that I will be able to move myself tomorrow. So, I need someone to pack for me."

He closed the door. You felt relieved in the warmth of his home. It was more spacious than usual houses and had a pretty welcoming aura. It was also pretty silent.

"Can't your parents do that for you?"you asked. You were really curious to see if his parents were... like him.

"No. They are both at a business trip in India, they always get excited being there. They usually come back with henna tattoos and stuff."he said and smiled to himself.

Even though he lives alone he sounds happy...

"So... you're alone?"

"Most of the time"

You walked inside and helped him take off his jacket, and you did the same.

Calm down, Y/N... just throw random stuff in his suitcase and leave before anything upsetting happens...
