The next few days passed by uneventfully, and soon it was the Friday of the concert. Currently Luke, Ashton, Michael, Calum, Austin, and Cody were sitting in a private room backstage while Christian, Dimitri, and Colin were finding their seats in the main part of the arena.
"I'm so excited for tonight," Ashton was saying, sitting down beside Josh Devine, One Direction's drummer. "I've really missed touring."
Michael nodded in agreement. "Same here. Let's just hope you're actually able to focus on your drums instead of Luke."
"And let's hope he doesn't go on a killing spree," Calum smirked. When he said that, Ashton turned away sadly. "I told you guys already, I didn't kill that girl. I thought I did at first, but Colin and I figured out that it was Nathan who finished her off."
"Wait a second," Josh said in confusion. "for one, why would Ashton be focused on Luke instead of his drumming, why would he go on a killing spree, and who in the world is Nathan?"
Luke started laughing. "I keep forgetting you're totally out of the loop when it comes to us. Anyway, Ashton and I are vampires, and we're kind of being chased by this evil Strigoi named Nathan Sykes that actually used to be my best friend. Also, the reason Ashton would be focused on me is because he is completely infatuated with me for some reason. Crazy, I know."
Josh just stared at him blankly. "Are you feeling okay, Hemmings? Do you need to sit down?"
Luke rolled his eyes. "No, why?"
"You're just talking really crazy right now," Josh replied. He turned to Austin and Cody, who were standing by the door with their microphones in hand. "Are you guys believing any of what they're saying?"
Cody shrugged. "I don't know, man. I haven't known them for too long, but I'd like to think they wouldn't lie to us about something like this."
"I think you're all crazy," Austin muttered, grabbing his black hat from the table by the window. "Well, I have to be onstage in exactly two minutes, so I'll see you guys later." When he had walked out, Calum turned to Luke. "I hate to ask this, but with all the craziness we've been having lately I feel like I need to. Do you think Nathan will try to mess with us tonight? Answer me honestly."
Luke sighed and ran a hand through his blonde hair. "No," he replied after a few moments. "I don't. Nathan's brave, but I highly doubt he'd be brave or stupid enough to attempt anything in a stadium full of people."
"I sure hope you're right." Calum took a sip from the bottle of water he was holding and turned to Luke again. "What are you going to do about your guitar, since you broke yours the other day at practice?"
"I have the one that Ash bought me when we were back in Australia," Luke said, motioning towards the shiny red electric guitar that was propped up against the wall. "I guess I'll just have to use that."
Ashton half-smiled. "I thought you had completely forgotten about that, Lukey."
"Haven't I told you to stop calling me that?" Luke groaned. "I hate that little nickname. My name's Luke, not 'Lukey'. You know that, Ash."
"So," Michael said, changing the subject. "Where's our next show after this one?"
"Seattle," Josh smiled. "I'm really looking forward to that. Seattle is one of my favorite cities."
"Are we flying, or driving?" Ashton asked, leaning his head back on the leather couch and closing his eyes. "I really hope we're flying, it's a heck of a lot quicker."
