I wasn't able to get much sleep that night for obvious reasons. It's not like I didn't try--I used every option that I could think of except taping my eyes shut. I just had too much on my mind and too many unanswered questions running through my head that I was forced to stare at the ceiling until seven o'clock the next morning, when a pair of familiar hands reached over to lightly shake my shoulders. "Lukey," I heard Ashton whisper, his breath tickling against my neck as he moved closer. "Are you awake?"
"I've been awake since we went to bed last night," I laughed, sitting up and looking around the hotel room that I was slowly but surely getting tired of. "Were you able to get any rest?"
"A little," Ashton smiled, and a feeling of relief immediately flooded through me. Another reason I hadn't been able to rest was because I was worried about him not sleeping as well, so his words definitely made me feel better and caused a smile to creep onto my face as well. "Well, I guess we better get up. It's going to be a very busy day for us today."
My smile instantaneously faded at the mere thought of what today would bring. There was a very good chance that none of us would be alive at the end of the night, but that really didn't matter as long as we succeeded in killing Nathan.
I took my time in standing up and going through my normal morning routine, and by the time I had finally changed into my attire of black jeans and a matching shirt Ashton was standing at the door with his arms crossed over his chest. "Are you coming downstairs today or tomorrow, Lukey?"
I rolled my eyes and hit his shoulder playfully. "You can't rush perfection, Ash."
"True." Ashton laughed, kissing my cheek before following me down the stairs of the luxurious suite we had been staying in for far too long.
When we reached the kitchen I was surprised to find everyone sitting at the table, a small map spread out in front of them. They all appeared to have been up for hours, even though it was only seven-fifteen. Even Michael, who normally didn't wake up until one or two in the afternoon, was up and seated at the long tile counter underneath one of the large windows. "What's the map for?" I asked as I pulled up a chair next to Camila.
"We've been tracking Shawn's phone number for a few days now, and every place he's been we've written down on this map. We know that he doesn't go far without Nash, Cameron, or Carter with him, so today when we go to the house he's staying at we can take all of them down at once," Colin explained. "Luke, I hope you didn't mind us using your phone to get his number."
I shrugged and took a sip from the orange juice that Cody had slid over to me. "Whatever you need to do. I'm just ready to end this already."
"We all are," Christian laughed. "but we need to strategize things first before we take off and mess things up by acting too quickly."
I nodded in understanding. "Okay, so what's the plan?"
"Well, I know that once we find Shawn and the others Nathan and Ariana won't be far. I'm hoping they're all at the same building, although that's highly doubtful," Colin said from his place beside Danielle. "So when we get there, we need to hide in the shadows for a little while instead of just barging in. That way we can buy some time and attack them when they're most vulnerable--the more unprepared they are for our attack, the easier it'll be to kill them." He looked around the table before continuing once more. "I would say the most powerful of all of them would have to be Cameron, because he's been a vampire the longest. Nash is fairly new to all this; he probably won't do much damage unless we hurt Cameron first, which means we'll have to kill him last. As for Carter, he's been a vampire for quite a while too, but he has many weaknesses when it comes to fighting so he should be quite easy to take down. Austin, you can take him down since he's hurt you multiple times in the past. Cody can focus on Cameron, Russell can handle Nash, and of course Luke is going to be the one to kill Shawn. Dan and Shay can take care of Ariana since they were the ones who almost killed her before, and Danielle, I'm leaving you in charge of Lauren. As for me, I'll deal with Nathan and possibly even Zayn. They're the most powerful of the group, and I don't want any of you getting involved with them and risk the chance of getting hurt. Okay?"
