*Ashton's POV*

You would think that with all the dead bodies I had seen tonight that another one wouldn't bother me, but then again death isn't something anyone could get used to. That's why, as I stood in the doorway watching as Colin leaned over Danielle's corpse, I couldn't help but feel a tear escape my eyes and run down my cheek. I stole a glance over at Luke, who was looking anywhere but at the scene in front of him, and reached over to take his hand. Touching each other seemed to automatically calm the both of us; it was obvious by the way his tense shoulders relaxed and his breathing slowed. We kept each other strong, especially in situations like this, but in this moment we weren't the ones that anyone should be focused on. It was Colin, who rarely showed any emotion but was currently inconsolable as he cradled the slain body of his girlfriend in his arms, that needed our attention.

Russell was by far the closest to Colin because he had known him the longest, and so he was the first one to break the silence by walking over to him and kneeling down so that he could hear him clearly. "What do you think happened?"

"Nathan," Colin finally whispered after a few moments, lifting a blood-covered hand to wipe his tears away. "Nathan happened. He's the only person malicious enough to do something like this, even though he's injured and will more than likely be dead before the end of the night."

"Why would he hurt Danielle, though?" Cody asked absently. "Did he even know her?"

Colin laughed humorlessly. "Unfortunately Nathan knew Danielle very well. They used to date before I came along. He's hurt her before, last year back in Australia, but I had no idea he'd kill her. To be honest I think he still loved her even now; with that said, I never thought she'd be in danger because I thought he cared for her too much to lay another hand on her."

"Wait a second," Camila said slowly. "Wasn't Danielle with us an hour ago when we were fighting Lauren and the others?"

"She was supposed to be," Colin replied sadly. "but I figured it'd be safer for her to stay here. Little did I know that instead of protecting her by keeping her in this room, I'd be laying down her death sentence."

Before anyone could say anything Michael and Calum walked downstairs, and when they saw Danielle they immediately stopped walking and looked around in shock. "What in the world? How did this happen?"

"Nathan came in and killed her, obviously," Austin snapped. "Did you two hear anything or see anything before we got here?"

Michael shook his head. "No. We've been upstairs watching a movie all afternoon, this is the first time we've been downstairs. How could Nathan have come in, killed Danielle, and left without Cal or I noticing?"

"He's just sneaky like that," Colin said sadly. After a few more seconds of silence he spoke up once more. "I guess we need to call the authorities and alert Danielle's family." He leaned down, kissed the top of her head, and carefully positioned her back on the floor before standing up and taking a deep breath. "Let's go."

"Where are we going?" I asked in disbelief. How could he think about going anywhere when there was a dead body still lying in the middle of our hotel room?

Colin's response shocked me. "I honestly don't know, all I do know is that we need to get the heck away from here. We've fulfilled all of our reasons for being in this place for so long, so why should we stay any longer than we have to? There's nothing else we can do for Danielle except let the police and the medical examiner take care of her."

We all looked at each other, hesitation obvious on our faces. "So, we're just going to get in the car and drive with no real destination?" Lauren wondered aloud, her words echoing my thoughts.

Colin nodded and, after wiping a few more tears from his eyes, gathered his suitcases from their places by the door and stepped out into the hallway. After silently debating whether or not to follow I did the same, still not letting go of Luke's hand. I wasn't sure where we were going. I don't think any of us did, to be honest. However, even with the fear of the unknown stretching out in front of us, there was also a sense of relief. We had nothing and no one to be worried about anymore. Nathan was dead, and so were the rest of his minions. That, I thought to myself as I climbed into the backseat of our rental car, was all that mattered.
