I wasn't sure what time it was when my eyes finally reopened, but if the liquid blood running down my arm was any indication I couldn't have been out for more than a couple of minutes.

I sat up, wincing at the white hot pain that shot through me when I did, and tried to get a recollection of what exactly had happened. All I could remember was the excruciatingly loud sound of breaking glass paired with the occasional scream, one more piercing than the rest, and I realized that someone or something must have hit us from both behind and from the side because the Suburban was now a pile of rubble, appearing more like an accordion than a vehicle.

As I turned I could see two motionless figures beside me, and upon closer inspection I recognized Austin and Camila. I wanted to help them, along with Cody, Colin, Michael, and Calum, but they weren't my main priority at the moment-Ashton was.

The pain in my side only worsened when I stood, but I ignored it and forced my legs to move, walking around the perimeter of the alleyway and trying to adjust my eyes to the darkness caused by the sun being obscured by the high-rise buildings around it.

After a few unbearably long seconds later I saw him, crouched over something that I couldn't quite make out from where I was standing, and I quickly ran over to him and, unaware of whether or not he was injured, carefully pulled him into a hug. "Are you okay?"

"I think so," Ashton answered, looking up at me with shadowed eyes. "but unfortunately I don't think he is." He motioned towards the figure lying at his feet, and it was only then that I saw the figure was a person--Calum. He was covered in blood much like the rest of us, except his was coming from a large gash on his leg.

"We need to go find Colin," I said to Ashton. "That way he can take Cal to a hospital, and we can stay here and help the others."

Ashton nodded and, with my assistance, gently picked up Calum and transferred him to the arms of Colin, who was already standing and in the process of walking over to us. "Take him to the hospital," I instructed. "We'll meet you there later."

Within seconds Colin had disappeared, and so Ashton and I made our way towards Michael, Camila, Cody, and Austin, who were looking around with confused expressions. "What happened?" Austin whispered, holding his head with a hand that was surprisingly free of scratches or any apparent injury.

"We got in a wreck," Cody whispered, pointing towards what was left of our vehicle. "and I have a pretty good idea of who did it."

"Nathan?" Michael asked, hesitation obvious in his voice.

Cody nodded solemnly and outstretched his hand towards Austin and Camila, the only two of us that weren't standing. "He was more than likely driving the first car that hit, and I'm guessing Ariana was probably driving the second one."

We were all silent after that, none of us knowing what to say, until Ashton spoke up from his place beside me. "Colin took Calum to the hospital."

Michael's head shot up and an expression of concern crossed his otherwise emotionless face. "What? Why?"

"He got the worst of the wreck," Ashton explained. As I stared at him I felt a sudden urge to touch him, and so I wrapped my arm around his strong shoulders and caressed a part of his skin with my fingers that was made visible by one of the many holes in his shirt. When I did he gave me one of his award winning smiles that never failed to make my heart flutter, and quickly kissed my cheek before returning his attention back to Michael. "and so I figured Lukey and I would let Colin take him to the hospital first, since he seemed to have the most severe injuries." When Michael just continued to stare at him, eyes full of worry, Ashton sighed and forced reassurance into his next words before he said them. "Cal's going to be fine. That I can promise you."
