Bedtime (Ereri/Riren)

Eren couldn't sleep at night. For a whole week he had been restless and by the time he fell asleep, it was time to get up. He didn't know why. It just seemed like he couldn't get his brain to shut up. Mikasa and Armin had even noticed.

"Eren, are you OK?"

The young teen nodded, his eyes drooping slightly. The buzz of the mess hall droning into a weird rhythm that made him even sleepier."Y-yeah I'm fine... " The two other teens shared a quick glance before taking him by the arms and dragging him out of the mess hall. "Guyssss! I'm fine-" he was cut off by a long yawn.

Armin sighed. "Come on Eren you haven't been getting much rest lately." Mikasa nodded in agreement. "Yeah Eren you need to sleep." the Caribbean eyed boy whined before being tossed into the open door to his room.

"It was awful nice that we all got rooms. It'd be a shame for them not to be put to use." Eren hissed at Armin. "I get it I get it!" the blonde boy giggled as he shut the door to his friend's room, leaving Eren alone.

"Ugh... I can't sleep!"

"Well it's bedtime get to it!" Mikasa yelled though the door. Eren groaned and crawled into bed. Finally he heard his friends footsteps fade away.

About an hour passed before Eren kicked his legs out the side and sat up straight. "I really can't sleep." He thought out loud. Eren knew something specific was keeping him up but what... he didn't know. His palms were sweaty and his heart was pounding. The image of a 150cm ravenette flashed in his mind.

Why would he be thinking about his Captain when he was trying to sleep?

He didn't know and didn't really care. I just need to fall asleep. He tried and tried. But nothing worked. Finally he rested her bare forehead onto the wall and actually thought about what could possibly be keeping him up.

Again his Captain danced into the corner of his mind. His heart pounded again. He could feel it throughout his veins and pulsing out of his tanned skin. He was going crazy.

That was the only explanation.

With a short groan, he finally allowed his mind to wander to the thing- or person- his brain couldn't get rid of. Levi Ackerman. His superior. His hero. Humanity's Strength.

It wasn't long ago that they had gone an expedition, but that was around the time Eren had stopped sleeping. Why was it he couldn't sleep? It had started becoming some type of hunger in his body. Not just sleep but... Something else.

It was like he was missing something. It's probably nothing... But Eren know he was just lying to himself.

If it was nothing he would be able to sleep.

"Brat open up!"

Eren was startled out of the bed, falling over his legs and onto his face. He could hear the pounding his commanding officer's fist on his door. "I-im coming!" He let out as he got back to his feet and made his way to the door.

Right as he went to open in, it slammed open it front of him. "tch... What are you doing here? Training starts soon."

Eren just stood there with his jaw to the floor. "A-armin and Mikasa said I had to sleep-"

"-Are they your Captain?"

"What?"

Levi sighed, pinching the bridge if his nose as he made his way closer. Eren shook as his Captain came to stand only centimeters away from the teen. The proximity between them was closed as Levi leaned in, his lips barely touching Eren's ear. "I'm your Captain brat. Why would you need to sleep anyway?"

Eren didn't know. And he didn't know how to explain that. The shorter man pulled away, his eyes scanning him head to toe.

"You have bags under your eyes." He stated. Eren nodded, not sure what he was getting at. The ravenette just dragged him back over to his bed and threw him into it like he was weightless. "C-captain! Wha-"

"Shut up brat. You're going to sleep. We can't have our secret weapon dying of exhaustion on the battle field cause he can't keep his damn eyes open." Eren didn't know how to react. This was Corporal Levi Ackerman. He worked his men to the bone. Til they were exhausted and about to collapse.

Why was he letting Eren sleep? He usually treated him the same as everyone else. Well... What about that least exposition?

~~~flash back~~~

"Listen up you maggots! One shot is all we got! We go big or don't go home! Now follow the plan!"

The group spilt into four separate groups. Each tasked with the taking out the newly spotted group of Titans. With the way Levi always put it, he made it seem like their hardest mission yet. Maybe it was because this group had an usual amount of abnormals. Eren didn't know. He didn't care. As long as he could destroy these bastards.

They made it out with most their men. One or two died, but that was expected. That was two less then last time.

But Eren had gotten hurt, he had been freaking out- a panic attack as you will. Levi had got caught, held in the hand of one of those foul fuckers. Immediately Eren went to save his Captain. Just to end up hurting himself.

"You fucking idiot! I was fine! I'm Humanity's Strongest you brat! You could have died and we need you! I need you!"

Eren was too busy crying. Crying in relief. Levi was safe. But the Captain didn't know how to get him to stop. They had, had to set up camp and Eren had started following his superior around. Making sure he was OK.

"Sir are you-"

"Eren for the fucking last time! I'm fine!"

That went on for sometime, Eren forcing himself to stay awake. He was too scared to leave Levi alone. Finally, the Captain came up with an idea.

"Here. Now go it's your brats' bedtime."

"C-Captain?"

His cravat. He handed it the teen before walking off to have some peace and quiet. Eren could only just look at it shock. And a little bit of awe. Armin and Mikasa pulled him away from the log he sat on and forced him into the tent. He fell asleep soundly with the cape held close to the young brunette.

~~~end of flashback~~~

"Sleep!" The grey eyed man hissed to his younger. Eren nodded slowly, getting under the covers and turning on his side. Facing away from the Captain. For some reason it was much more... Comforting now. He didn't know how to explain it.

It just felt safer. He knew his Captain was close and safe, and his usual calming scent hung right by him. Eren could almost be envelope in the warmth he felt just lying next to Levi. And finally, his eyes closed and he drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Eren awoke to find he had slept the whole day away. Rising from his bed, he never felt more refreshed. His eyes immediately scanned the room for his Captain.

But a there was, was a small note.

Damn brat,

Don't fucking cuddle be in your sleep. Or else I'm going to make you have an early bedtime and make you rise before dawn. Then you'll do fifty laps.

-Captain

Eren just smirked. Tucking the note away, he went on his way to find Mikasa and Armin with a skip in his step. Why? Well...

Let's say Eren wasn't fully asleep when he cuddled into Captain. And let's say...

Levi didn't exactly push him away.
