AN: Girls Night Out part Two.
•-------<>-------•
Eren's POV
Why did she do it? Why did she say that? Why did Ria... A sob burst from my throat, me wrapping my arms around my legs as a result. The cab driver just shook his head as he turned onto Trost Drive.
"Twenty-five darling." The brown haired man with freckles stated. I nodded, not really paying attention. Dragging out my purse and paying him, I flashed my gaze to his I.D.
"Thanks Ymir."
"Hey. Whoever hurt you deserves their most valuable part cut off. Don't think about that asshole." I forced a smile out of habit. I was too used to this. People who appeared nice and seemed to care til they stabbed you in the back. Or just need up not actually caring. It had been a lie.
All of it.
"H-here's a fifty. Keep the change." I was out the door before he could refuse the wad of cash shoved into his hand. My converse beat the pavement with a rapid THUMP. Every step I took bringing me closer to the small hole in the wall I shared with... "Riavelle."
It started raining. How cliche. The door swung easily, the key yanked out soon after as I made my way into the house. I through my keys into the kitchen sink and ransacked the hallway closet. Where was it? Here.
Pulling it out, I lifted the black suitcase out from the clutter and set it down.
A weight was lifted off my shoulders that moment. I feel like I was meant to do this for awhile now. I needed to get away from Ria. I had been attached to her for too long.
After packing only the necessities, I gave my farewells. "Goodbye vomit stained sofa for holding up when my dumb lesbian ass thought I'm was pregnant. Goodbye hole in the wall for when Ria tried to kick my head up my dumb ass for thinking I was pregnant. And goodbye fur-coated carpet even though I've never owned any pet. Unless you count my gay." It felt good to let this all out. Memories after memories came flooding back.
Some good. Some bad. Some I would cherish or rue forever.
"Farewell.... Riavelle Levian Ackerman." I whispered out to the ever silent hallway. Wrapping the scarf my brother Mik gave me, I left that small hole in the wall.
I never did look back. But I wanted to. Ever since my foot crossed over that busted old door frame. I craved to see the girl I had fallen in love with.
But I never did.
~~~
Until now.
I had been 27 when I'd left that house slap dab in the middle of New York. Yep. My whole life had been one fucked up cliche after the other. I left that unknown corner of New York to travel the world. A pocket full of fifties and the Earth was my playground.
I travelled for about 4 years before settling down in a small town up north. Wasilla, Alaska. I had wanted to go forever ago. I heard they had hot springs to die for but had never had the time.
Ria... She said that she'd love to go with me one day. Maybe because she had always loved the cold. Maybe some other reason. On the day of July 16, at around nine in the afternoon, a heard the bell ring at the front of the hotel I had been working at for almost 2 years.
I was 33 when I saw the same short woman with piercing grey eyes and ivory- almost snow white skin- with the most soft hair cut in a straight bob who I had known walk through those doors. Riavelle Ackerman. My old roommate. The girl I had fallen in love with.
Now a woman who looked like she owned the place.
"How may I help you today?" I asked her, my hair longer and my smile brighter then it had ever been. I had cleansed myself of those bad memories. But I had always wanted to go back. I had almost torn out of there in the dead of the night to drop in on the beautiful female. Stupid conflicted emotions.
"I'm looking for you actually." She spoke as if she was giving a speech, her words cold and precise. She wore a black pantsuit even though it was ridiculously hot that summer.
"I see." Ria just flashed me a smile, one you give to a stranger and nodded. "It has occurred to me that your manager is leaving am I not correct?" I nodded.
"Well this place is loosing business bad; I've been hired to get you back on your feet. Seeing as I'll be your boss i'd thought to introduce myself." I nodded again. Like clockwork. I didn't really pay attention. Here she was. 6 years later and she didn't seem to even recognise me. How... I forced my smile to stay even though I was ready to burst.
I wanted to reach across the counter and hold her in my arms. I wanted to yell at her and slap her and kiss her and cry in her arms all at the same time.
My heart was a mess of emotions.
"Would you like to go out for coffee some time?"
"W-what?" I asked. Blinking quickly to retrieve myself to reality. Ria set a hand atop mine and smiled. "Coffee. 6 o'clock. Call me." And with that she slipped a business card into my hand and with a wink- was walking out of the hotel before I could open my mouth.
Right as she was leaving, I made the best of what little courage I had and spoke.
"You pronounced tequila wrong bitch!" Ria just laughed without looking back. And right as those fine legs were halfway out the door she turned back and said, "I don't hate you Eren. I never have."
This is only the beginning of my story. How will it end? What challenges will I face to meet my ever after- happy or otherwise?
I can't tell no one can.
But I'll make the best with what I got. You better do the same.
Life is but a series of conflicting moments you have to bare for the gold.
Make due with these conflicts.
