You swore you were going to kill him. For weeks now, Shiro had been mission blocking you. Any time something even slightly dangerous or exciting happened, he would come up with some reason for you to stay behind. You would try to argue, but Coran would always agree with his reasoning, saying it was better to "Play it safe.". You were going crazy in the castle! There were only so many rooms to explore, and playing road trip games with Allura was impossible because of the fact that you were from different planets. Any time you tried to ask Shiro why he was doing this, he would just get distant and say he was just, "doing his job". You didn't know what was wrong with him and you, but you were going to find out. So you made a plan.
You knew that every morning Shiro would get up before everyone, and go to the training deck, so when you heard him in the halls that morning, you jumped out of bed and quickly got dressed. Slipping into the room, you watched from the shadows as Shiro spared with the gladiator. You were impressed at first, but then it occurred to you that, maybe the reason Shiro had been keeping you from missions, was because he didn't trust your fighting skills. Taking a deep breath you tried to focus on your plan, to have a calm conversation with him, and ask him what was going on. At the end of the spar, you stepped out of your hiding place, catching Shiro's eye, offering a hesitant smile. Shiro seemed shocked to see you for a moment, then he looked away, focusing on the training deck settings.
"You shouldn't be here." he said coldly, not meeting your eyes. Your smile fell away, the anger rising to your face. Who did he think he was, you lived in this castle too, you had every right to be here.
"We, need to talk." you said trying to stay calm and stick to your plan. Shiro didn't seem to notice or care about what you had to say, turning his back to you, continuing to fiddle with the controls.
"There's nothing to talk about, now if you don't mind, I'm a little busy." he said dismissively. That was it, the plan just flew out the window. Without thinking you rushed forward, kicking Shiro square between the shoulders. He stumbled forward, catching himself on the wall before he fell to the ground. Before he could register what was happening, you lowered your level, using your legs to sweep his out from under him, sending him to the floor. You placed your knee on his chest, grabbing a fist full of his shirt, you leered down at him.
"You're wrong! I know something is going on, tell me why!" Shiro ignored your question, tearing out of your grip by kicking you off of him. Jumping back to his feet he took a fighting stance, growling you stood as well, throwing a punch, that he blocked, followed by a kick, that he ducked. The two of you fought intensely, you anger propelling you forward, he didn't think you could fight, he thought you were weak, you would show him just how wrong he was!
You sent a kick into his side, which he caught, before he could do anything, you swung your other leg around his waist, using your momentum to throw him to his back, trapped with one knee on his chest the other over his wrist. You had the upper hand. Pulling back you arm, Shiro closed his eyes, preparing for the impact to his face. Instead of feeling your fist hit his face, he felt it hit the floor next to his head, cracking the tile. Opening his eyes, he saw you above him, your eyes filled with anger, your chest heaving, sweat beading your skin. His heart stopped, he hadn't meant for this to happen.
"Why don't you trust me, Shiro?! I thought we were supposed to be partners!" you yelled, the anger in your eyes, giving way to sadness, you hold on him loosened, your heart feeling like it weighed a ton. "We are supposed to be a team." you added quietly. Shiro teared up at you, speechless, he searched your face, seeing the pain and sadness and anger, knowing that he was the reason you felt this way. He was just trying to protect you, but instead he ended up hurting you. He searched for something to say, to apologize, but words seemed to fail him. He watched as a tear escaped your eye and rolled down your cheek to land on his chin. There were no words to express how sorry he was, instead he acted on instinct, leaning up pressing his lips to yours. It was quick but it was enough to shock you. When he pulled away you stared town at him confused. His cheeks were pink, and he refused to meet your eyes.
" Because I'm in love with you" he blurted out "I just- I didn't want you to get hurt, I thought by keeping you on the ship, you would be safe." he explained after a moment, finally turning his eyes to yours. "I'm so sorry Y/N. It was a stupid idea." you couldn't help but smile, taking you knee off his chest, and standing up, pulling Shiro up with you. He looked so embarrassed, you felt a little bad about making him confess this way, you practically had to beat it out of him. Leaning forward, you placed a kiss on his cheek.
"Yea, that was a stupid idea."
