lance and pidge would be the ones to wake everyone up at nope-o-clock by jumping around and screaming about going to disney. they'd also be the ones blasting disney songs in the van as shiro drives them all there, while hunk and coran lead a sing-a-long and keith pops in some earplugs, bundles up in a hoodie, and tries to sleep in the passenger seat. they make the mistake of getting starbucks on the way because allura is vibrating the entire tram ride to the parks and practically jumps over the turnstiles to california adventure. her, pidge, and lance link arms and full out sprint to the guardians ride.
shiro goes off to grab some fast passes. coran hops on mickey's fun wheel. hunk doesn't like rides, so he and keith decide to get a proper breakfast on buena vista street. when shiro comes back, the three of them meet up with lance, allura, and pidge, and they make their way around the park. lance is Prepared™. he has a detailed plan with a timetable and a mapped-out route to hit as many rides as possible. he is a disney expert. his family has seasonal passes.
they stop for churros and dole whip. they go on grizzly river run when it gets too hot. keith only starts to have fun when lance bets him he can beat his score on toy story midway mania and lance makes the two of them ride it two more times until he admits defeat. pidge clings to shiro for dear life on california screamin'. everyone's shocked when shiro starts fangirling hard over the princess-themed rides. he really loved disney princess movies growing up.
after the world's fastest lunch (lance timed them), they switch parks. pidge is already sporting a sunburn but god save anyone's kneecaps if they attempt to force a hat on her head. shiro genuinely tries. bless him.
shiro also demands the group take a picture in front of the castle/the walt and mickey statue. lance climbs on hunk's back and gives him bunny ears, keith refuses to uncross his arms but to everyone's surprise, manages a small smile, allura looks absolutely radiant as always (kids have stopped her multiple times throughout the morning to ask if she was a princess. each time she starts to tell them she is, indeed, a real princess, but then lance has to shut her up and finesse her way out of these situations so she doesn't disappoint the children.) pidge HATES pictures. shiro has to bribe her to take one decent one where she actually smiles (he has to pay for one souvenir). a park guest takes the photo for them. it's crooked, a bird flew into the frame and is obscuring shiro's head, and pidge was late on the 'say disney!' and sports an awkward grimace as her mouth is still caught on the 'n' sound.
lance recites the entire opening monologue to the haunted mansion (which annoys the hell out of everyone else except hunk, who already had a list of death puns he compiled just for this ride and gleefully tests them out on the cast members). pidge hauls ASS to space mountain and basically has to be dragged away from tomorrowland. keith gets excited for autopia but when he gets stuck behind really slow moving cars, he sulks until shiro takes him to the frontierland shootin' exposition. allura falls head-over-heels for fantasyland. none of the paladins think they've ever seen her as happy as she is while on dumbo or in the teacups.
at some point, lance sneaks into a store, buys a set of sparkly mickey ears, and jams them on keith's head. keith is pissed. ...but then proceeds to keep them on for the rest of the day. shiro has to get a picture with every disney princess they find. lance 'proposes' to each one. pidge collects the pins, and whips out her lanyards while the group is waiting in lines and tries to trade with other park guests for some rare ones. they're waiting for pirates (lance and hunk freak when they find out keith has never seen any of the pirates of the caribbean movies) when pidge spots it: an ultra rare pin matt once stole from her and then lost when she was 5. she has to have it and bolts. lance takes allura to splash mountain, just the two of them, because he conveniently 'forgets' to tell her there's a big drop at the end and hopes she'll cling to him for safety. it doesn't work. keith and hunk decide to go on it's a small world, since hunk had been taking rain checks on most rides in lieu of browsing the stores waiting for the rest of the group to be done. they're halfway through the ride when it breaks down. the boats stop moving but the song is still going on and hunk keeps talking keith's ear off. keith can't take it anymore and after 15 minutes, he hops off the boat, grabs hunk, pulls out his knife ("keith?! how did you even get that through security!?") and breaks out of the ride. park security starts chasing them, and when they run into pidge (she finally got the pin but she might've had to do some questionable things to get it), she hides them in the royal theatre. hunk is terrified of getting kicked out of the park so they hightail it over to main street. shiro is there watching the parade and soon lance and allura join them. they collectively decide their only choice is to dress hunk and keith up in costumes so park security won't recognize them.
the gang has dinner reservations (courtesy of shiro) and spends the next two hours running from park to park to find souvenirs. shiro can't get anything, because pidge picks an insanely expensive item as her one souvenir shiro owed her and his wallet is sucked dry ("you didn't specify a price limit, shiro!"
"pidge that's unreasonable and you know it.") lance and hunk both have about three huge backs of merchandise each (hunk is a big fan of novelty mugs, sweatshirts, and plushies, while lance likes hats and figurines. they all balk because allura only buys one thing: a very sparkly keychain that is "quite sufficient" as a memory for that day... even though she doesn't actually own any keys. and keith is oddly partial to stitch-themed merch.
the gang split up. lance insists he see world of color, and takes pidge and keith with him, while allura, shiro, and hunk watch the fireworks. later, they'll argue over which show is better.
they're all pooped at the end of the day as they make their way back to the tram. hunk has to give pidge a piggyback ride and shiro falls asleep while they're waiting in line.
they completely forgot about coran. he meets them back at the car, still chipper, nose still zinc white from sunscreen, proudly exclaiming he had the most amazing day of his life and the paladins really missed out. he talks them through it the entire car ride back and doesn't even notice that every one of them falls asleep.
