Lai Guanlin -Blind Love

Guanlin and I have been best friends before I can remember. We would do everything together, from making up stories and songs to playing hide and seek in the attic of my house. Now years have pass and we are now both older. We were always happy to be together until one heartbreaking day...

[FLASHBACK]
I was on my way to see Guanlin. I was holding a present for him as it was his first day back in Korea after spending a year abroad.

I saw the walk sign lit up as I crossed the street until I heard something. I looked to my side to see a car speeding, with no intention to stop. My eyes widened as it hit me at full speed, causing me to be flung across the road.

I couldn't feel anything or hear anything at all. I saw people coming over to help me but I just saw everything fade into black.

[FLASHBACK OVER]

And now, here I am. A year after I woke up from my coma and I'm blind. My parents cried for days but I couldn't see them to comfort them. After everything that's happened, I finally thought about Guanlin.

'Did he forget me? Am I just his past?' I tried to find the direction of where my parents were. Once I did, I sat up properly to face them. "Mom...Dad, what ever happened to Guanlin?" I heard them exchange quiet whispers as my mom spoke up.

"He doesn't know about what happened to you...we asked his parents to keep it quiet so that he wouldn't be in much pain. We know how much he means to you.." I slowly nodded as a single tear made its way down my face.

A couple of days later, I was allowed out of the hospital. As we got home, I heard my parents gasp. "What happened? Did something happens?" My father turned around "Guanlin...he's here. Maybe we should send him away so that we can met
(Y/N) go in.."

I shook my head and opened the door slowly. "He's going to find out soon. Might as well tell him now" As soon as I stepped out of the car, I felt someone hugging me tight. I then heard Guanlin's voice for the first time in a year.

"(Y/N), I've missed you so much. What happened? Why weren't you answering my calls and texts? My parents told me you went abroad but I couldn't get a hold of you.." I quietly pulled Guanlin's arm away from my body.

"Guanlin...I didn't go abroad. I was in the hospital in a coma. And now I'm blind. So it's best if you just leave me alone." I carefully made my way to the door and walked in. Guanlin looked at my parents who were crying in pain.

He shook his head "No... this can't be happening."

Another year had gone by and everyday, Guanlin would try to make me happy like I used to be. But it was useless. I still felt the same way; sad, unwanted and alone.

I woke up like every other day, but I felt something strange. Like someone was in the room with me. I grabbed my walking stick on defence. "Who is it?"

I heard a small chuckle "Its me
(Y/N)...Guanlin. I want to take you out today. Your parents agreed to it, so get ready." I sighed and stood up. "Guanlin, when are you going to stop? I can't be normal anymore! Why can't you see that!?"

I felt Guanlin take my hand in his. "Of course you're not normal (Y/N)... You're extraordinary. And I'm prove it. So just let me take you out..please?"
I sighed and nodded in defeat.

After I got ready, Guanlin escorted me to his car. I felt him put my seatbelt on. I quietly thanked him as he got in as well. I turned to Guanlin's direction. "So, where are we going." Guanlin turned to me and smiled. "Everywhere you love"

The day was almost over and for the first time in 2 years, I laughed with so much happiness. Guanlin took me to to every place we used to hang out with when we were younger, like our favourite park, cafe and even the arcade.

It was now the end of the day and I was waiting for Guanlin beside his car. I heard footsteps and smiled when I noticed who's they were. "What took you so long?" Guanlin smiled brightly as he stood besides me. "How did you know it was me? What if it was some complete stranger?"

I laughed as I shook my head. "I know how your footsteps sound like. We've been friends for years. So what did you get that was so important?"

Guanlin took out an stick of cotton candy from behind his back. I put it closer to me so that I could smell it. I smiled at scent. I leaned in to get a bite but I couldn't see Guanlin leaning in as well. He stared at my face and smiled to himself.

After we finished the cotton candy, Guanlin escorted me to the car again. We started driving until we reached our destination. Once we entered our destination, I knew immediately where we were.

"Guanlin...why are we in the hospital?" Guanlin just took my hand and led me to a room. I heard more people come in. "Ms. (L/N)..are you ready?" I shook my head in confusion as I tried to look for Guanlin. "What's going on.?"

Guanlin sat next to me and held my hand. "You're going to be able to see again (Y/N)..I worked hard to get these donor eyes so that you could see again. The operation is right now. Do you think you can do it?" I felt tears coming down my face as I nodded. I felt a nurse take my hand as I got ready for the operation.

After the operation, I opened my eyes to see a white room. I sat up and saw my parents, close friends and Guanlin all asleep. I smiled to myself as I quietly got up and went to the bathroom to see myself after 2 years. I heard a huge gasp in the room as I went back in.

I saw everyone awake and looking around until my dad saw me. I gave him a big smile. Everyone came and gave me a hug hug and after greeting everyone I turned and saw Guanlin's face for the first time. I saw tears coming out of his eyes as I hugged him.

Everyone left the room to give us time to catch up. After a while, I broke the hug and smiled. "I've never noticed how tall you've gotten" Guanlin chucked and stepped closer.

"(Y/N) after all these years, I've never been able to say this to you but... I love you. I always have and never stopped.." I felt my face go red as I stepped closer. "After all you've done for me.. and all out years together, I fell in love with you too. I love you Guanlin."

We both let out a nervous laugh as Guanlin pulled me into another hug. "Let's just stay like this..." I nodded and  held onto Guanlin like I was about to lose him.
