I was never really fond of high school relationships. From what I see on a day to day basis, majority of the couples last a couple of weeks before they call quits. I found it hard to believe for someone to have a high school sweetheart considering how high school has changed. But then I met Bae Jinyoung.

He was not like the other boys that I had seen at my school; he was polite, kind and always seemed to radiate happiness whenever he smiled. I even have to admit that he was cute.

The day he first asked me out is one I'll never forget and our first day is something that is sketched in my mind forever.

I was waiting for Jinyoung at the entrance of the carnival. He had suggested that we go for our first date since it was a place I talked about often. I was so nervous that I arrived a half an hour early.

Trying to pass the time, I took out the camera on my phone and tried my best to touch up my makeup, making sure it was perfect for when I saw Jinyoung. However, while I was fixing my eyeliner making a very unpleasant facial expression, I heard a soft yet familiar voice.

"Y/N! I didn't know you were here this early. Did you wait long?" I put away my phone and shook my head. "No, I just got here. How about you? Why are you here so early?"

Jinyoung began to rub the back of his neck while looking down on the ground. "I guess I couldn't wait to see you so I rushed as fast as I could." I blushed at his comment, impressed by his smooth talk. Without warning, Jinyoung intertwined his fingers with mine and started pulling my towards the entrance of the carnival. "Come on! Let's go by the tickets and have some fun!"

Once we purchased our tickets, we began to go on all of the different rides. We raced each other in go karts, went on the bumper cars 11 times in a row (earning some glares from the workers) and went on the carousel.

Dinner was coming close so the two of us decided to eat at a diner in the carnival. Once we ordered our food, I noticed Jinyoung was acting a bit strange. He kept glancing around, staring at a few people. Confused, I shook his arm to grab his attention. "Hey are you okay? You seem to be a bit uncomfortable?"

Jinyoung kept quiet for a couple of minutes but broke the silence with a deep sigh. "Yah, why'd you wear makeup? Do you not see how many guys are staring at you? You'd feel uncomfortable too if the girl you like is getting looked at like a prize."

My heart began to pound harder as I began to console Jinyoung. "Hey, I don't care what those guys think. I wore makeup because I wanted my first impression to be good." Jinyoung chuckled before he placed his hand on my right cheek, caressing it so softly. "Y/N, you already made an amazing first impression on me. Why else would I ask you out on a date? Besides, with or without makeup, I find you to be a beautiful girl no matter what."

Tears came to my eyes as I held on to Jinyoung's hand so tight. "No one has ever said that to me. Thank you.." we spent a few moments just admiring each other's presence until our food arrived. Halfway through our dinner, the sky began to darken as the sun set and the moon peeked out.

Once we payed for our food, Jinyoung took my hand in his again and pulled me off somewhere. After a bit of walking, I saw where Jinyoung had taken me; a huge Ferris wheel stood tall in front of us. The bars were stringed with lights that seemed to bring light to every part of the carnival grounds.

We found our way into one of the seats and we began to go up. They way up was quiet until we reached the very top. Our cart stopped and the two of us admired the evening sky. I heard Jinyoung call my name and I turned to see him holding a single white rose. I covered my mouth in shock, still unsure about what Jinyoung was planning to do. He put the rose in my hand and smiled at me.

"Y/N, being with you for this one day made me the happiest I've been in a long time. I know I just confessed to you and we haven't been close, but would it weird if I asked you to be my girlfriend?"

I clutched the rose in my hand and planted a kiss in his cheek. "I would want nothing more than that"

We were finished the rest of the ride smoothly, our hands not letting go until Jinyoung dropped me home.
