The lunch bell finally rang as many students began to pack their things away and headed out for their lunch break. My friends and I decided to stay, with a one of them going to go buy food for the rest of us.

I was scrolling  through the pictures that I took with my boyfriend I took on my phone. The biggest smile was plastered on my face as I looked through very picture we took, from the cute ones to the funny ones. I continued to scroll when I heard the noise beside me go silent. I looked beside me to see my friends staring at me, a smirk on each of their lips. "Salina, when do we see this boyfriend of yours? You've been smiling like an idiot at your phone for the last ten minutes. Why can't we see a picture?"

I laughed it off and put my phone in my bag. "You guys wouldn't believe we are dating. The story sounds too made up too; I'm a senior in high school, he's in his second year at university. We were family friends but things changed about a two summers ago when he confessed his feelings for me and we've been together ever since. It sounds fake."

They nodded their heads slightly but still persisted that they needed to see him. "Come on, the only one of us who's seen it is Jawahir.." I watched as one of my friends pointed to our friend, Jawahir,  who came in with food for all of us. Jawahir noticed and looked at us confused. "What have I only seen?"

I slid down in my seat and softly said "my boyfriend...". At those words, Jawahir's neutral face morphed into one filled with excitement.
"Oh yeah, he's hella fine!! I didn't even know there were guys like that in this area. Come one, just show them a picture. They won't judge you. We would never judge you."

I saw the pouts on all of my friends' faces and finally gave in. I pulled my phone out and scrolled to the newest picture he sent and showed them. Their bodies went still as they gawked at the man which is my boyfriend. I laughed at their reactions before taking my phone back. "Yah, why hide his beauty? If I was dating him, I'd tell everyone he was mine."

I shook my head as I opened one of the snack Jawahir brought. "I need to keep our relationship a secret.. just until I graduate. If people found out that he was dating someone like me, my last year is over."

My friends began to comfort me as Jawahir pulled me into a tight hug. "Salina, you doubt yourself way too often. There's a reason why he confessed to you and stayed with you for this entire time. He loves you but you should love yourself before you can love him back." I smiled widely and thanked Jawahir for her words before gesturing the rest of my friends for a huge group hug.

The end of the school day came quickly as my friends and I walked out of the school gates to meet a crowd of students. They were all around a very expensive sports car with a tall man leaning against the hood. After coming closer I realized that it was Daniel. My eyes widened as I heard everyone start to whisper about his identity.

"Oh my god! Is he a new teacher!? He looks like he would teach English!"
"If he does, I'd ace all my classes! But he looks too young to be a teacher. Maybe a student?"
"Ayyeee, no high school student can drive a car like that? Maybe he's in university! But why is he here?"
"Maybe he's picking up his girlfriend?"
"No girl would have the guts to date someone like him. Most likely picking up his sister. Maybe Do Hana? She's the richest girl in this school."

My stomach began to turn in knots as I heard all the whispers, but a loud voice made silence fall between the students. I slowly looked up to see Daniel smiling at me brightly and walked towards me with long strides. In a matter of seconds, he was already by my side, putting his jacket around my shoulder. "Yah, it's getting colder. You're going to get sick like that. And why is your uniform skirt so short? There better not be guys looking at you, you got that?"

I faked a smile but everyone's gossip was all that I could hear. Daniel noticed and grabbed my hand. He laced our fingers together as he lifted my chin up with his free hand. "Hey, you look beautiful today. Don't listen to what everyone else has to say..." I shook my head and looked down. "Daniel this isn't right..I knew we should've kept our relationship a secret until I graduated. Everything is ruined now.."

Daniel frowned as he lifted my chin up once more and pulled me into a passionate kiss, our lips moving together as one. He pulled away after a few moments with a goofy smile on his face. "I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable.. I just wanted to let everyone know that you're mine and you deserve all the love in the world." He placed a quick peck on my cheek before he looked at the crowd around us. "I'm going to have to steal my girlfriend away from you guys. We have a special date today that we can't miss."

Daniel walked me towards the passenger side as I sat down. He gently put my seatbelt on before closed the door and headed to his side of the car. Before he got in, he looked back at the crowd one more time. "Oh, and if any of you guys start to bully her, then I'm going to beat your ass. I don't care if you're a guy or girl. Salina.Is. Mine. Get that through your head."
He finally got in and we drove off and since that day, I never felt bad to be Daniel's girlfriend. It was a title that I was proud off.
