Samantha was surprised when she saw all of the books under Tyler's bed. "We should bring them with us. You should try to read them all... most of them are sort of required reading for Witchfolk. A good portion, though, are rare finds. Special spells"

"Okay. I do like to read before bed, so that's good, right? Also, reading in the car is always a good way to pass the time. And we are going to need some good ways to pass the time."

"We could set it up like a quiz show. Two people could have books and quiz everyone when they get to something interesting," suggested Tyler.

"That's a great idea...how are we going to get all of these books and all of our stuff in that van?"

Tyler wriggled his eyebrows up and down. "A shrinking spell. We will need either Adam or Sonya to help me."

"How 'bout me?" askedSamantha. Tyler shook his head as if clearing his thoughts.

"Of course! How dumb of me! Yeah, you can help me! You can do your first spell!"

Samantha smiled, "All right! Let's do it!" Tyler got out one of his spell books.

"First thing's first. You have to find the right spell. Use the index." Sam turned to the back of the book and started searching for the word 'shrink.'

"Shrink living things? Sounds serious.... shrink food..... shrink heads?? .... shrink objects... that sounds right, right? That must mean, like, things that don't really matter?"

"Trust me, my books matter... but yes. There isn't anything too much that can go wrong with books. That looks like it would be a good spell to use." Samantha flipped to the page and read over the spell.

"So, why does it take two of us to do the spell?" asked Sam.

"Many spells take two so that there are checks and balances. You can try them alone, and sometimes they'll work. Sometimes they won't. It depends on how powerful you are." Tyler put a few books aside. "Okay, we will shrink these ones. Let's put them on the floor in a nice pile and start the spell." They moved all of the books and joined hands over the pile. They chanted the words together and the books shrank to a very small size. Tyler let go of her hands, "small enough!"

Samantha looked at the books in amazement. "Those will be easy to pack now!" she said. They threw the books in a small bag and looked around the apartment. "Is there anything else we should bring?"

"Not from here. Everything is in the van. The books were the last thing. Adam and Sonya have some, too," replied Tyler. And with that, they walked out of Tyler's apartment, hand in hand. Tyler locked the door and they walked down the stairs to the van.

"Ready to go?" askedSonya when she saw them come out of the building. Sam nodded as she jumped into the back along with Tyler.

"All ready! Let's get going!" They slammed all of the doors shut and Adam started the engine. He threw it into drive and their ten hour journey to Edmonton began. It was going to be a long one, so they settled in with some light conversation.
