After school, I went home and looked for something to wear. I didn't know the first thing about what to wear on a date. I sorted through my clothes in my closet to find something suitable. I really need to update my clothes.
I didn't have much to choose from in the way of dresses. I found a dress I felt was decent enough and put it on. I took the ponytail, I was wearing and just pulled back part of my hair.
I didn't wear makeup so no issue there. I adjusted my glasses and slipped into a pair of flats. I looked in the mirror, good enough.
I came downstairs and decided to wait. To say I was nervous, yeah, well, I was freaking out. I waited and the longer I waited, the more nervous I became especially when it was close to the time for Braydon to pick me up.
When five o'clock came so did the knock on the front door. I walked over trying not to be too eager and opened the door. Braydon stood there in a pair of black slacks and a button up shirt holding a bouquet of flowers.
Looking at him and looking at myself, I felt sorely underdressed. He leaned over and whispered, "You look beautiful."
My cheeks turned a faint pink.
"These are for you," he said, handing me the bouquet. I took them and turned around and walked right into the kitchen, leaving him a bit perplexed.
Needless to say, Mom snatched the flowers out of my hand and pushed me out of the kitchen causing me to fall and face plant right onto the floor. Maybe I'll just lay there and won't have to go.
She walked by, "Molly this is no time for a nap. Your date is waiting."
I looked up and saw Braydon trying not to laugh. Thanks, Mom. Thanks a lot.
I got up and brushed myself off. I walked towards him and tripped again, only this time he caught me. I looked up and blew a strand of hair out of my face.
He looked down at me, "Nervous?"
I nodded.
He lifted me up, moved his hand to mine and slid his fingers in between mine, "Relax."
Easier said than done. He opened the car door for me being a gentleman and once I was inside, he closed it and walked around climbing into the other side.
From there we drove to a nice restaurant. The waiter seated us and we ordered. I looked around at all the people. They were dressed nicely and well, I wasn't. I just wanted to go home at that moment.
"Molly?"
"Can you take me home please," I asked in a soft voice.
"Why?"
"Because I don't belong here. Look at everyone here," I said to him feeling extremely embarrassed.
He leaned over and looked at me with his baby blues, "You belong here more than any of these people. You are beautiful."
My eyes widened at him, "Y-you think I'm beautiful?"
"More than you know."
I couldn't help but really start to like Braydon at that moment. Our food came and we ate. We talked through dinner and eventually, he paid and we left. Our next destination was a park.
We got out and he took my hand, leading me to some swings, then we sat down with them.
"Can I ask you a question?" I said to him.
"Sure."
"Why did you ask me out?"
He turned and looked at me, "Why not?"
