Prom frenzy was in full effect at the school. There was no hiding from it. All seniors were stuck in full prom mode. I thought about asking Raven but I figured he would think it was childish. The guys and Trish all found dates and I decided maybe I would figure something else out. I didn't feel like being odd man out and I didn't expect them not to go with someone just because I didn't have a date.
"So, are you going to mention it to him," Robbie asked.
"What's the point? It's high school. I seriously doubt he would want to go to some stupid high school dance," I responded.
"Molly, it's Raven. I'm pretty sure if you ask him to jump off a bridge, he would for you," Robbie smirked.
"That's kind of sweet, I think, but also disturbing."
"The point being is, he loves you. He would do anything for you," he said.
I just gave him a look and decided not to think anymore about it. It was starting to give me a headache.
We got home from school and I didn't say much even though Raven tried to get me to talk to him. He even tried to find out from Robbie but I threaten to chop off his manhood if he said anything to Raven. I didn't need or want a pity date.
As the day of prom finally arrived, I was sleeping and didn't hear anyone come into my bedroom. I woke up to find a dozen red roses and a white box on my desk. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I must be hallucinating.
I got out of bed and walked over to them. There was a card. I opened it and read it.
'Get ready for tonight cause I am going to make all your dreams come true.'
I opened the white box and found the most beautiful dress along with a pair of matching shoes. It was ice blue. Robbie, I'm going to hurt him. I stormed out of my room and went over to his room and pounded on his door.
"Robbie! I'm going to kill you! You big mouth!"
He opened his door, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, "What are you yammering about?"
"You told him! How could you?!"
"Tell who, what?" He looked utterly confused.
"Robbie never told me anything but you on the other hand should have told me," Raven said as he leaned against his doorway.
I sighed, "I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to feel obligated to take me to my senior prom."
He walked slowly towards me, "Obligated? Explain how I'm obligated to take my girlfriend to her senior prom?"
"Well, because I am your girlfriend."
"Yeah, so? Maybe I wanted to take you, ever thought about that?" I looked at him and thought about it. "See, you didn't. You assumed. When you assume it makes an ass out you and me." Robbie and I gave him a look. "Wait a minute, that didn't sound right." We watched as he went over it in his head and said, "I guess that is right."
I rolled my eyes. Ladies and gentlemen, my boyfriend is an idiot.
"Now, I want you to get ready cause prom is in ten hours."
"It takes me ten minutes to shower, ten minutes to do my hair and ten minutes to dress, that's thirty minutes. Who takes ten hours to get ready?"
"Usually most girls," he said. Robbie and I looked at him. "Oh, right, you aren't most girls. Never mind. Then how about we veg until it's time to get ready?"
"I'm going back to bed," I said.
"I second that," Robbie said and we both went back to our bedrooms, leaving Raven standing in the hallway alone.

After getting some more sleep, I finally got up and vegged with Raven until it was time to get ready. Mom helped me with my hair and I got dressed. We walked down the stairs and Raven was standing there in a tux waiting for me along with Robbie.I walked up to him, "Damn, you're breathtaking."
Dad gave him a cringing look and rolled his eyes. I couldn't help but giggle. We heard a knock at the door and I opened it.
"Holy hell, you're hot," Braydon exclaimed earning a look from dad and Raven. "What? She is."
Raven rolled his eyes as he took my hand, leading me right by Braydon as dad had to leave the room. Braydon has no shame.
We headed to prom in the limo. Everyone was having a pretty good time. When we arrived it was in full swing. Raven and I headed to the dance floor and started dancing. We did get a bit goofy out on the floor, but it was so much fun. We always had fun when we danced together.
The others joined us and we just had fun. I held my breath expecting some major drama to happen, but it never did. I was grateful for that. For once I just wanted to have fun with everyone.
As prom wound down, Raven and I left. He took my hand and lead me away to one of the upper floors. Did I mention our prom was being held in a hotel?
He opened the door and turned on the light. It had rose petals scattered around. I turned around and looked at him, "How?"
"Trish, she really ships us for some odd reason," he said. I couldn't help but giggle.
He closed the door and walked over to me, "Dance with me."
"Didn't we do enough dancing?"
"There is never too much dancing," he smiled as he pulled me to him and we danced slowly together. I felt like I was floating on air. This night turned out to be truly amazing; no drama, no fighting, just simple fun. Raven made everything special for me from the time we first actually talked.
I never saw Raven as anything more than a neighbor who was the older brother of my tormentors. While he saw more to me than even I saw of myself. It's funny how things work out. I would have never in a million years guessed we would ever be friends let alone be together. It's funny how things work out.
