I heard something hit my window. I leaned over to see Raven standing outside. I opened my window and the cold air blasted me in the face.
"Raven?"
"Oh hey Molly," he greeted me.
"What are you doing?"
"My brother doesn't happen to be around, is he?"
"Nope, it's just me, alone for the moment."
"You busy?"
"Just working on homework," I answered.
"Want to take a break?"
"Guess I could use one," I shrugged.
"Can I come in?"
"Oh, I don't know."
"Okay, I won't come in. How about we just talk? I'll stand out here and you stay right there," he said.
"Okay, I can do that."
"Great, so how are you?"
"I'm good. I take it day by day."
"That's good," he mentioned.
"You look a bit cold."
"Eh, it's okay. I can handle it."
"This is ridiculous. Hang on." I shut the window and went downstairs and opened the door. I waved him in and he came inside. His lips looked blue.
"You didn't have to."
"No offense, but I don't want the burden of you freezing to death," I said to him. He followed me into the kitchen and I made us some hot cocoa. It was at least I could do since he was almost a popsicle.
"Raven, what would possess you be out in the cold like this?"
"Foolishness, I guess," he said, taking a sip of his hot cocoa.
"Please tell me you aren't dumb?"
"Nope, just crazy," he remarked.
I looked at him.
"I'm kidding," he said.
"What brings you to the dark side," I asked him.
"I heard you got cookies," he grinned and I laughed. He was quick, I'll give him that. We talked for a bit and I laughed. He was funny and sweet. It was nice. I never really knew much about Raven even in school.
Then I heard the door open, "Hunny were home!"
"And that's my cue," he said, getting up quickly and leaving. I wonder what that was about.
"You thirsty," Braydon asked, looking at the two cups of half drank cocoa.
"Something like that."
"We brought dinner and a movie," Robbie said.
"Only because yo-yo here whined until he got to choose a movie," Hunter said.
"She likes rom coms," he said incredulously.
"You sure you don't like rom coms you pansy," Braydon asked him.
He gave him a look as I interjected, "It's fine. Let's go watch the movie."
******
"Wait a minute. I want to sit by her," Braydon exclaimed."Snooze you loose, pal," Robbie shot back.
"Hunter let me sit by her."
"Nah uh, you got to be quicker."
"You guys are dicks. Fine. Have it your way," he shrugged as he walked over and picked me up sitting me on his lap.
