Colson

Gina whispered my name in my ear and it caused me to jump out of my bed.  I looked around and saw nothing. It must of been my imagination or at least I thought it was until she suddenly appeared in the door way of my bedroom.

"What are you doing here? How did you get into my house?" I questioned in a fit of rage.

"Calm down Colson. Everything's ok now. We can finally be together. Just you and me. No distractions, no wife, no kids. Its just like we planned." She smiled.

"Your one fucking delusional as bitch! That will never happen. You took away the only woman I will ever love. I would never want to be with you!" I yelled.

"Aww, Colson, you shouldn't say things like that. I know your grumpy when you wake up but that really hurts my feelings. You should be thanking me for getting rid of all of them for you." She said as she wiped blood from her hands onto her clothes.

After she said that I pushed past her and ran to the twins nursery. I saw Jane standing over their crib weeping.

"Jane!? What's wrong?" I asked as I pulled her to me.

I looked of into the crib and it was completely empty. The twins were gone.

"Colson, how could you?" Jane cried into my chest."How could you let her do this to us?"

Before I could answer Gina reappeared. Only this time she had the twins in her arms and she had a knife to Casie's neck.

"Looking for these?" She teased.

"Daddy!" Casie cried out.

"Give them back!"

"Silly boy. You'll never get any of this back. Its all your fault and you know it." She cackled as she ran away with them.

I took off after them. As I ran after hear I could her Jane in the distance calling out to me. 

"Colson wake up! You've got to wake up! Please Colson wake up! Wake up Colson! Wake up!" Jane shouted.

I jumped up quickly. My shirt drenched in sweat. I looked around the room to see everyone still sleeping. It was only a nightmare or at least that's what I told myself. I wouldn't believe it until I got down to the NICU to see the twins for myself.

I quietly got out of bed. I went into the bathroom and threw water on my face.  Changed out of my damp shirt and put my hoodie on. Not wanting to waste any more time I went to the NICU to make sure the twins were still there. After I had that terrible dream about Gina I had to make sure they were ok. I peered into the window and looked inside. They were still there hooked up to all the machines and monitors.

A sigh of relive washed over me and all of my fears dissipated. I just continued to watch them as they lay there. They looked so helpless. Jane tried to prepare me for this. She told me that they would likely have to be incubated because they wouldn't go full term. This was earlier than expected though. But either way I had my brave face on.

I would have a brave face if were Jane were here too. I would tell her everything would be fine and that before we knew it they would be home with us. So that's what I had to keep telling myself now. That they would be ok.

I started thinking about how they don't even have names yet. It made me think of the conversation Jane and I had a few months ago about their names.

"You cannot be serious! I would never allow you to even so much as utter the name Jagger or Rebel. Blade is decent but Jagger. Nope not gonna happen."

"Oh come on Jagger is badass."

"Now I'm scared to even let you pick the middle names."

"Why do they even need middle names? I don't have one."

"Cause I want them to have one. And what about if its a boy and girl?" She asked.

"I don't know thats kinda tough." I said

"What about Packer and Haper?" She replied

"Next."

"Alisa and Asher?"

"Nope."

"Preston and Peyton?"

"Oh come on. Are you even trying?" I chuckled.

"Shut up! I'm not even gonna say these cause I know you'll hate them too."

"Just tell me anyways."

"Levi and Lyra."

"I actually like those."

"That's a shocker." She chuckled

I thought of their names in my head. Levi Blade Baker and Lyra Rogue Baker. I liked the way they sounded so that would be their names. Jane wanted to pick their first names and she wanted to make sure they had middle names and I wanted to honour  her wishes.

"Levi, Lyra, daddy is here. Hopefully, they will let me in to see you soon. I know you guys are probably scared. But don't be. Daddy will make sure that the doctors and nurses do everything they can for you guys until you can come home."

"We know you will." I heard over my shoulder.

That voice! It sounded kinda of  scratchy but I know that I would know that voice from anywhere. It was a voice I never thought I'd ever hear again.

"Jane!?"
