“Hey you’d better apologize.” Niall smiled as she bit his cheek, “I’m not sorry but I could always make it up to you,” she winked as he grinned with a smirk. “Deal.”
They both made their way to their seats as Liam came and sat down, along with Louis. Everyone was seated as Harry came down, “Mornin’ mate, everything good?” Zayn spoke up as Harry came down with his long sleeved shirt his hair still wet from the shower. “Yeah, Abigail is the breakfast ready?” Harry questioned making his way to the chair beside me. “Yes, it’s ready. Good morning to you too.” She sassed as Harry raised a brow at her, “Niall.” He said sternly as Niall gave Abby a look and she sighed getting up and bringing the food to the table. Everyone sat quietly as Harry lifted his hands onto the table opening it, and directing his head at me to take his hand. I furrowed my eyebrows doing as told as everyone else connected hands around the table. “We’ve got another chance to be alive. We’ve got another chance to make it better. Let’s make it count for our family.” He finished as the rest of the boys and Abby all nodded with their ‘Amen’s. This struck me as quite different, I hadn’t expected a prayer, but I guess he had to thank someone for his life and for still being here now even after what he’s been through.
Everyone had started eating as they spoke among themselves, and Harry pulled me closer tugging my sleeve so I’d pay attention as I leaned to the side, “Yes?” I asked with curiosity as he clenched his jaw, “I hope you kept your mouth shut about what happened last night and in the shower. If I hear even the slightest bit that you told anyone-”
“-Save your threats. I didn’t tell anyone, and I wasn’t planning to either.” I frowned, shaking my head as I shoved his hand away. “You’d better not.”I sighed rolling my eyes as he gripped my face by my cheeks in his hand, clasping my jaw. “What did you just do?” he asked firmly as I furrowed my eyebrows moving his hand away as everyone’s attention directed to us. “Don’t be stupid I didn’t do anything!” I argued as he flared up again. “Don’t fucking raise your voice at me, you had better watch yourself!” He yelled angrily as I groaned. “Shut the fuck up Harry.” I mumbled under my breath, but as soon as the words left my mouth I had regretted it as his hand made contact with my face roughly and a burning sensation stung throughout my skin. There was a silence in the air as the boys stared at me quietly, Abby’s mouth gaping at the scene. I turned to him slowly, my eyes tearing up as I did so. Why was I even trying here… I sniveled trying to remain calm as I stood up, my hands shaking slightly as I did so. “E-rm, I…I’m not hungry right now, I’ll eat later.” I cleared my throat trying to stop myself from crying as I walked away from the table. I went up to the room as I heard footsteps quickly follow from behind the door, “Hey, Monique are you okay?” Abby asked from behind the door as I held my breath, letting the cold tears run down my burning cheeks.
“Answer me, come on open the door… can I come in?” she mumbled opening the door slowly as I sat on the bed wiping my face quickly. “I’m fine, just a bit embarrassed is all. Seriously.” I smiled holding my arm as she frowned hugging me. “He’s being a jerk, I know you don’t deserve that.”
“It’s okay. It is what it is.” I sighed getting up and walking to the bathroom rinsing my face so the swelling would go down. “Do you want to talk about it?”
“No.” I couldn’t speak about it, not when I would reveal everything about him from yesterday and this morning. “You’re just as closed up as he is.” Abby sighed and I furrowed my eyebrows. “What do you mean? When has he ever been closed up with you?”
“He never speaks to any of us about things he really keeps locked up, besides Liam. He’s closest to him and he’s the one who grew up with him. In the Orphanage. They’re protective over each other.” She muttered as I widened my eyes slightly, “They grew up together?”“Yeah, that’s how Liam became so good at fighting. He used to watch after Harry since he was older, they’re literally like brothers and since then Liam’s been with him as the fighter. Was never good with handling any conflict with words.” Abby sighed and I sat down on the bed, I guess there was a lot I didn’t know. “Oh, so why is Harry the leader of this gang? How did the gang form?” I questioned, trying to figure out more of this situation. “I don’t know how the gang formed but I know its been going on for five years now and its happened ever since Harry and Liam ran away from the Orphanage.”
“Why did they run away, what about their caretaker; Harry’s nan?” I asked with a frown as Abby seemed confused, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. But Liam and Harry were getting too old and no one wants older kids, so I guess they made a run for it before they got transferred. All I know is that they were on the streets for a year or so, and that’s when they started meeting Louis, Zayn and Niall.” I nodded slowly as I absorbed the whole situation to try and come to terms with Harry’s behavior. “Oh and hey, do yourself a favour and don’t ask too much questions around Harry. At least not in public.” Abby raised her brows at me as I nodded getting up and walking downstairs.
I pulled myself together and made my way to the table again, it was only Harry and Louis who were still sitting and chatting. The others had all gone off and done their own things. “Harry.” I stuttered quietly as I stood beside him, not sure if this conversation was worth interrupting or not. “What?” He mumbled looking up at me.
“Can I talk to you, it’ll be quick. Sorry Louis.” I asked quietly as Harry excused himself from the table as we walked outside in silence. “What is it?” he questioned crossing his arms over his chest.
