The sound of incessant knocking caused Harry to wake up rather abruptly. The cold air hitting him like a ton of bricks as his blanket dropped to the floor in the shuffling. "What the hell?" He questioned to himself quietly, voice hoarse and eyes still adjusting themselves. The knocking continued once more, "Hey. Wake up man, we have things to do today." Liam spoke through the wooden door. Harry groaned to himself and let out a brief sigh, "Harry-"
"I heard you damn it! I'll be down in a minute." He scolded lifting himself from the bed and rubbing the sleep from his eyes. The weight of heavy footsteps walking away indicated Liam's departure. Harry made his way to the bathroom, having a brief shower before getting himself ready and heading down. "What is it?" He muttered scanning over the room, where the boys sat and Abigail prepared breakfast. "If you've forgotten we have a job to do. They're gonna be over at Snake's place at 4 to finish the deal, they won't be in town for another few months so we have to stock up if we're gonna be selling enough Coke to make up for the next few months." Louis answered leaning back in his chair, "I've done the calculations. We've triple checked. We need this to go smoothly. And if we're gonna get there in time we gotta go in an hour." Zayn added with his hands folded on his lap.Harry barely processed a thing they were saying, all he could manage to think about was the bright red target on his back and the responsibilities he needed to get to. "You're gonna have to go without me."
"Excuse me?" Niall raised his eyebrows and stepped forward, genuine shock in his expression. "Go without the man who planned out this whole thing? What do you think they're gonna make of us if you can't make the meeting. Who is gonna strike the deal?"
"You can handle it without me, okay. Louis and Zayn know the amount we need. Get what we need and if they cut a good deal, get more. As long as we profit and no one gets fucked over." Harry muttered, pouring himself a fresh cup of coffee as Niall rolled his eyes, "Mate, you're not listening to me you ha-"
"Liam knows what's up, I shouldn't have to wipe your asses everytime you take a shit! You'll have to learn to work without me eventually." Harry sighed shaking his head taking a sip of the coffee, the bitterness soothing something within him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I have things to do today. I need to make sure Monique can be discharged and that everything is okay. I can't be cutting drug deals when I have pregnant woman to deal with." The room went silent, the boys all sharing glances with each other. "Harry is right. We can handle this it's not like we haven't dealt with this before. We can go, its safer that someone is here to hold down the fort with Abigail anyway. In case anything goes wrong." Liam reassured, nodding towards Harry. The boys stood in somewhat of an agreement and settled down as their breakfast was served. Liam had no idea what it was, but something was off with Harry and it was clearly visible. He would never have let such a big deal just slip out of his control into someone else's hands. He knew he wouldn't get an acceptable answer however, since the hospital Harry had been on edge, short with Liam. This was an unusual occurrence, but understandable under the circumstances. There was no visible rays of sunshine this morning. Only slight dew on the windows and cloudy formations in the sky blocking most of the view. It looked like rain was fast approaching, maybe Harry was smart to stay home. "I'm off, I wanna get to the hospital before it starts to rain. Text me when you're done with the deal, keep your eyes peeled and brain on alert." Harry waved as he grabbed the keys and walked to the car slipping inside before making his way to the hospital. He checked his watch, 8:32 am it read. He should be able to make it to the hospital by 9 if traffic was kind enough.
The rain however decided to be a bit of an asshole. The droplets fell hard, the sound of metal clanging echoed throughout the car and the dull thumps of water onto the window like a drum in a marching band. "C'mon, c'mon...fucks sakes man!" Harry grunted slamming his hand down on the horn in anger as a driver slowed down just as the light changed from green to red. Harry wanted no business being in traffic in the cold, on the wet road. He wanted to be home. The stress of being hunted for something he wasn't quite sure of and not knowing when they would strike put an unsettling amount of pressure on him. This time he couldn't do much, it was a promise after all – even though he couldn't understand what he did wrong. The traffic light changed back to green and Harry drove to the hospital, mumbling along to the music on the radio as he did so.
