I pulled away slowly as I opened my eyes to find his staring straight into mine, he quickly turned away and got up from his seat on the damp wood.
“I’m sorry.” He mumbled quietly standing up as I frowned, “Sorry for what?” I questioned as he walked to the corner of the tree-house, putting down the rocks on the floor safely and walking back out. “We need to go it’s getting late.” He muttered as I furrowed my eyebrows, “Harry, but wait wha-”
“-I said we need to go.” He finished climbing back down the tree.I sighed following him back down as he waited for me to make my decent. “Ready to go?” he asked not looking at me as I nodded slowly walking ahead of him holding my arms tightly. We walked back in silence as I saw the house in the distance. I walked towards it quietly, the only sounds to be heard was the cracking twigs and the crackling fire which was already burning by the lake. “Wait…” Harry mumbled as I continued walking, “Hey I said wait.”
“What?” I questioned turning around as he sighed, “Don’t-”
“Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone anything.” I shrugged walking inside as I heard the music blaring throughout the house once again. “I meant don’t leave.” I heard him mutter behind me as I shook my head with a frown. I wasn’t what he needed, not now.“You’re back, where did you guys go?” Abby asked with furrowed eyebrows as I turned to her with a small smile. “I don’t even know I was…I was lost I think,” I mumbled hugging my arm as she narrowed her eyes at me, I didn’t know whether she knew about the tree-house so I found it best to just keep quiet for now. “Oh my gosh! He hit you again didn’t he? How dare he why did he do it this time! I can’t bloody belie-” Abby ranted angrily as I knit my brows together in surprise. “He didn’t hit me again! Why are you making such a fuss you’re making him out to be like this horrible person the way you guys would carry on, just assuming!” I frowned as I soon took back what I had said in the back of my mind, this was completely unexpected of me to just burst out like that when all she did was try to help me. I sighed as Abby stared at me with a raised eyebrow. “What happened then?”
“Nothing. I’m fine I just don’t feel for much conversation I guess.” I answered walking down to the back yard; where the rest of the guys were. “Was wondering where you were? How did the talk go?” Louis asked as he walked up to me, handing me a drink as I took it gladly. “It was…normal I guess. Just a talk. What’s been going on here?” I asked as I stared at the weird water fight happening behind him. Zayn, Niall and Liam were furiously attacking each other in the lake; Niall being on Zayn’s shoulders. “We’ve been having some fun…” Louis chuckled as Liam soon called out to him, “Mate you’re throwing me to the wolves c’mon!”
“Duty calls. It’s tag teams.” Louis smiled as I nodded watching him join Liam in battle against Niall and Zayn. Where was Harry? “Abby, hey. Sorry I scolded you like that. It was uncalled for.” I apologized as she walked out and took a seat beside me on the porch. “It’s fine.”I nodded slowly with a small sigh, “I’ve got to go home soon. They’re going to realize I’m not at Hunter’s eventually.”
“Yeah, you can try tomorrow. We all have to go to town anyway. These guys still have school too.”
“What about you? Don’t you have school?” I questioned turning to her as she frowned with a shrug, “Well my parents never cared that I left anyway, and I stopped going to school. Never had any friends there and I was smart enough. As an addition Niall wanted me around more often so I found a solution to both our problems. As difficult as it may be sometimes.” She answered and I nodded quietly, I learn something new here every day. “Have you seen Harry around?” I asked as she shook her head ‘no’ and took a sip of her glass. “Okay.” I frowned getting up and walking inside as Harry sat on the couch watching some soccer match. “Can I sit with you?” I asked as I stood on my heel with my hands behind my back. “Mhm,"He mumbled, not turning his attention from the television; he seemed heavily intrigued by the game as he opened his arm from me to sit.
“Can I talk to you real quick?” I asked as he sort of shrugged it off, his attention fixed on the game as he nodded.
“I need to go home tomorrow when you go out to town.” I muttered straight as his attention shifted completely back to me and he faced me with a slightly shocked look spread across his face as I raised a brow at him. “You’re going?”
“Yes. I have to be in school and my parents are bound to know I’m not at Hunter’s place.” I shrugged as he rolled his eyes with a sigh, “We’ll drop you there.”“Okay…You guys not going to school?” I questioned quietly as he shrugged, “I’ll see if I feel like it.”
“Harry you can’t just miss school like you want,” I frowned. “You’re crossing the line again.” He warned as he turned to me and I shook my head, “I don’t mean any disrespect. I’m just saying. We have a task due in a few days and I can’t go without my lab partner…” I answered with a small smile, hoping to lighten the matter. “Please, for me?”
He mumbled under his breath as he sighed as I knit together my brows. “I didn’t catch that?”
“I said I’ll do it.” He muttered as I nodded, on the outside I was straight faced; but on the inside I was grinning from ear-to-ear. I was getting somewhere with him, slowly but surely.
