Honestly

I just made this video^^^ (about 47 seconds). It's a Patton-centric video inspired by the Moving On videos and this oneshot.

...

I popped up into the video after Thomas and Morality came to a nonsensical conclusion, as I always do. My first reaction was to look over at Patton. After a quick glance and hearing his excited greeting of "Logan!" upon my arrival, I turned my focus instead to Thomas.

Honestly though...

Thomas and I discussed how he and Patton were agreeing on the most effective solution to his weekly dilemma, Roman and Virgil showing up as well. Once I related to the others my explanation, with supporting facts and evidence, the conversation took a natural turn onto other details such as feelings and emotions.

This is where I usually tune out.

I cross my arms and straighten my glasses as Roman describes his overzealous idea when something caught my eye. I looked into the eyes of Patton and am surprised to see miniature tears building up in them. He is silent but is still smiling.

Virgil makes a comment towards me that indicates that he expects a response, seeing as how if Virgil is arguing against the group, I am occasionally on his side.

I clear my throat quickly and attempt to re-enter the conversation. I recognized that my unspecific response to Virgil had not entirely fooled him; he knew I had not been listening. The others though, not quite as conscious as me, and Virgil, skipped right over this.

Once again, the discussion left my area of expertise and I was able to again look over at Patton. His tears were gone and his smile was still as bright as it was before, but it was nowhere near as bright as it normally would be. He couldn't fool me anymore; I won't let myself be fooled again.

The times that we see you being silly and laughing...

"Cut him some slack, Bae-max," Roman had smiled at Virgil and waited for us to all get the joke.

Patton laughed. "Oh I get it, from Big Hero 6."

I ignored my confusion as to how Virgil was acting like an inflatable robot that heals the injured and instead watched Patton giggle at how flustered Virgil responded.

With a sigh, Patton slouched his shoulders and let his smile falter for only a moment. When he glanced back up at Thomas to listen to his reply, I could tell that Patton looked past Thomas right at me, noticed I was watching him, and instantly turned his head towards Roman as the fanciful one dramatically began to talk way too fast; obviously having had way too much sugar before this video.

My face had obviously let Patton know I was... worried for him, because when Patton replied, he looked at me with a big grin and a happy tone.

...some of that's real, right?

I straightened my glasses. "I am all for a compromise, if that is what we agree on."

Thomas smiled at me. "That's great!"

He and Roman started to bounce off ideas at a rapid pace, and Patton threw one in as well. Virgil just sat and smirked gently at them. Inspecting Patton again, it seems as though something had changed. We made eye contact again, and I raised my eyebrow in a silent question; one that I was becoming increasingly used to: 'Are you okay?'

Patton glanced in between the others all still happily chatting about what Thomas' next step would be before meeting my gaze once again. His full smile shrunk to a half-smile, and he slowly nodded. I didn't have to understand emotions to know what he meant: 'I will be.'

I nodded, accepting this answer. It wasn't a fake answer, and it wasn't a repressed answer. I can tolerate the honesty. I gave him a small smile back and we rejoined the conversation.

I will make sure he's okay.

...

This was so hard because he thinks so intuitively and I am way out of my creative bubble. I haven't written much for fun in years.

I really wanted to write this because out of that 22 (amazing) minutes of Part 2... that one line from Thomas to Patton "Honestly though... The times that we see you being silly and laughing... ...some of that's real, right?" absolutely broke my heart. I had to step away from the video for a few minutes. Aaaaaaaand I really wanted to write this in Logan's POV because it didn't seem like there was all that much of a resolution from him in this video. He told Patton he has to give the heart what it wants sometimes and gave Patton a cat hoodie... there needs to be more. I have theories but I won't get into them here.
