Not canon with my other oneshots.
Trigger warning: scary stuff? Death? I guess?
I made the video included with this one-shot if you want to watch it; it's 21 seconds.
...
It was dark; that was all any of them could tell. "Guys?" One of them asked.
The area lit up. The four Sides were standing in an empty, seemingly endless space.
"What are we doing here?" Logan asked, taking in his surroundings. None of them had a clue.
Virgil slowly backed up to be closer to the others, but made it discreet so they wouldn't think he was trying to seek comfort in their presence. "And where is here?"
"Well this is concerning," Patton smiled in an attempt to hide how scared he actually was.
"Psh," Roman started to walk in some direction. "There's nothing scary about this. We probably just accidentally sunk down into a part of the mindscape that none of us have been."
Logan wasn't convinced. "Do any of you even remember sinking down? Anything that happened before now?"
"I was making dinner," Patton said and then gasped. "Oh no, it's gonna burn!"
Virgil frowned. "Dinner? You just made breakfast."
"Breakfast?" Patton looked at him confused, as well as the others. "What breakfast?"
Starting to freak out, Virgil ran his fingers through his hair. "Pancakes... like, a lot of them."
"Pancakes?" Patton repeated. "Kiddo, I made those early this morning. That's the last thing you can remember?"
"Wait." Logan stopped them. "You made pancakes?"
Patton nodded. "This morning, yeah. You didn't come when I texted you, so I assumed you were busy working."
"But..." Logan looked around at the others. "You just made us meatloaf. The last thing I can recall is getting ready for bed."
Eyes wide, Patton looked at him with concern. "That was last night."
"Well the last thing I can remember was Thomas coming home from grocery shopping," Roman rejoined them. "When did he do that?"
"Like, two days ago," Virgil put his hands in his pockets. All of them looked at each other, thoroughly confused.
"Roman," Patton looked at him. "I haven't even seen you for these past two days. Have you been here?"
He shrugged. "I don't think so. It doesn't feel like it; it just feels weird that we seem to all have come here at different times."
"But none of us can remember coming here," Logan argued, and Roman just shrugged at him. They sat in silence for a few moments, just looking around at the nothingness around them, before Roman clapped his hands together.
"Whelp, I vote that we keep walking until we eventually find a way out of here."
"We have no idea where we are nor what we could run into," Logan looked at him in disbelief. "And you just want to go waltzing around?"
Roman glared. "Well do you have a better idea, smarty-pants?"
Not wanting to admit that he didn't, Logan ignored the question. "Let us at least stick close together. No wandering off."
With everyone in reluctant agreement, they started to explore, with Roman obviously taking the lead. Walking in silence and coming across nothing, not even a wall, Patton was starting to become bored. "Logan, any theories as to where we are?"
