I made this Prinxiety video above (only about 11 seconds).
Yes. Yet another soulmate story written on the Internet. I tried very hard not to write one of these (for years, actually), but I was just so incredibly inspired by this other fanfic I read, and just thought "f**k it".
Fanfic inspiration was called "Trois noms sur leurs peaux" by Yusseily on fanfiction.net. The title roughly translates to "Three names on their skins".
Not necessarily a human AU, but like, let's say for this oneshot, the Sides can go into the real world and appear as real people.
Prinxiety and some Logicality.
...
In a world where people were destined to be with a perfect significant other, Roman felt blessed. He could be with someone who was a perfect complement to himself, and wouldn't have to date around like lots of people he knew would do anyways, as a way to say "eff the system". Roman had faith.
He grew up knowing his soulmate. The name of his soulmate sat proudly on his arm in an impossible-to-remove ink, in the same way that his own name must have been on his soulmate's arm. It was this way for everyone.
Virgil.
The name made Roman happy.
As a kid, Roman would write on his skin in ink all the time. He loved to talk to his soulmate in the only way he knew how, as his soulmate was too shy to meet him in person, for now. Every morning for as long as he could remember, Roman would write Good Morning on the inside of his right arm.
Roman knew that his soulmate was left-handed as well, which seemed so perfectly coincidental, as everything Roman found on his skin was on his right arm. His Virgil was obviously a creative child, loving to write cute little sonnets for Roman, sparking his love for poetry. Since Virgil was still young, they weren't all that good, but Roman was young too, and he loved them all the same.
He would write his favorite ones down in a notebook so he would always have them, as the original writing would wash naturally off his skin.
Virgil would draw more than he would write, though. Over time, his crude toddler doodles evolved into intricate works of art. Roman loved to wake up to a beautiful drawing on his skin whenever his soulmate stayed up late at night, which was almost always.
Although, when Roman was entering his teen years, his soulmate suddenly stopped writing and drawing on his skin. Roman had done everything he could think of to try and get his soulmate to talk to him, but he never got a response. The only way he knew his soulmate was still alive was the little smudges of ink Roman found on the side of his left hand, left there when Virgil would drag his writing hand across wet ink when writing on paper.
Despite this, Roman never stopped writing Good Morning on his arm every day, wanting his soulmate to know that he would always be there for him, and that he loved him.
As time went on, Roman tried to live his life. He had friends, and he had Thomas. He had responsibilities, and for now, that was enough. He could distract himself enough from his woes to uphold his job, for if he didn't, Thomas would crumble. Just the slightest kilter in his personality could send Thomas over the edge.
It had happened once, and only once, when Thomas revealed his sexuality to a friend, and they'd made fun of him. They'd caused so much strife in his emotions, the three Sides had a hard time keeping control, especially when Anxiety started to cause problems, but they managed.
Anxiety was standoffish and preferred to be alone. To be honest, Roman liked it better that way. Thomas having Anxiety around was in direct contradiction for what Roman wanted, so he just let Anxiety do his own thing, as long as he didn't create any issues.
