I made the video attached to this chapter if anyone wants to watch it. It's about the Sanders Sides.
Note: I will try my hardest not to put lots of boring personal stuff in my Author's Notes, so it'll only be more important stuff (my theories about the sides, me asking you about your theories, etc.). Letting you know for the people that usually skip ANs (like me...) because they're too long/boring.
This takes place in the same canon of my Secret Santa one-shot; after the Secret Santa one-shot but before my one-shot in which Roman's room is revealed.
I realize I should have put a trigger warning in my last one-shots, so I won't make that mistake again.
TRIGGER WARNING: Pretty much this whole chapter. Skip this if you would be triggered by anything involving anxiety attacks.
...
Within seconds of waking up, Virgil was overcome with negative thoughts.
None of them like you.
They're just pretending.
Why would any of them put up with you other than to keep Thomas whole?
Especially Roman; you're his complete opposite. He would never accept your differences.
Rolling over from where he was laying, Virgil curled into his soft blanket and attempted to just focus on that.
I love this blanket.
This blanket is so soft...
...and warm...
...and cozy...
...and you don't deserve it...
Virgil sits up and opens his eyes to the darkness of his room. Despite liking it most of the time, times like these, he really didn't wish to feel alone in the middle of nothingness.
"Alexa, turn on the light." He waits anxiously before he hears a voice say "okay", and his dark surroundings are replaced with the warm purple glow he was used to.
Standing up, Virgil runs both of his hands through his hair in an attempt to get the negative thoughts out of his head. He takes in the surroundings of his room and in an attempt to ground himself starts to name the things he can see in his head.
After going through the things he could hear, feel, and smell, he licks his lips to try and figure out what he could taste; which was nothing. He couldn't remember eating anything that day and, seeing that it was well into the afternoon, figures he hadn't eaten since the night before when Patton had made chicken and mashed potatoes for their daily "family meal", as the parental personality had grown to call it.
Virgil saw it more of a forced attempt to have them all be best friends.
Either way, Virgil was starting to enjoy them more, although he would never admit it. It got him out of his room once a day, which he was grateful for. Virgil could even pretend that the only reason he would was there was because he had to be, so then nobody would freak out about him actually enjoying having them keep him company.
An escape from being alone by listening to, and occasionally joining in on, their conversations allowed him to suppress his negative thoughts; at least temporarily.
He is torn from his thoughts when his stomach reminds him of his need for food. Taking another glance around his quiet room, he sinks down into their shared kitchen.
