Human-Sides.

...

It was well known that Patton was an awful driver. His insurance company knew him on a first name basis, and he'd owned more cars than he could count. He'd been sent to the hospital to be checked for injuries, but the accidents had never been serious enough... until now.

Patton blinked into awareness not knowing what happened, where he was, or who the people staring down at him were.

"What..?" He started to say, but was cut off.

"Don't try to talk just yet." A woman, probably a nurse, smiled down at him. She held him back from sitting up as he was trying to gain his bearings.

The nurse ran through a list of question with him, starting basic and then growing personal, as he looked around the room. A few other nurses bustled around checking equipment, but something unlike everything else in the room were the two guys sitting off to the side.

Each of them looked nervous and worried, but also happy despite the tears in their eyes. After being questioned, Patton was looked over briefly by the nurses. It was then that he noticed he had gauze wrapped around his head.

As the nurses fiddled with him, Patton heard the one that had questioned him say "memory loss".

After he was taken care of, one nurse explained to him where the panic button was, and then left him alone in the room. Well, not completely alone.

"Hey Patton," one of the guys said as they both scoot their chairs forward, moving closer to Patton.

He stared between the two of them, studying their faces and noticing their wavering smiles. "I'm sorry... who are you?"

Their faces dropped. They had figured out on their own that he couldn't remember much based on his answers to the questions, but they didn't know he wouldn't even remember them.

"I'm Roman," the other one introduced himself, putting a hand to his chest. He then pointed to the other guy. "And that's Virgil."

Patton nodded and smiled politely. "Nice to meet you. Well, re-meet you, I guess... how did I know you?"

The two guys looked at each other. They knew that they weren't supposed to give Patton all the answers. He was supposed to remember by himself, but they felt like they needed to aide him along.

"I feel..." Patton squinted at them, as if trying to see them better. "I feel like I know you. Like I loved you guys."

They chose their words carefully. Roman smiled. "You were always an loving guy."

"We're friends..." Virgil started slowly.

"Best friends." Roman finished. Virgil glared at him. Truly, best friends was an understatement. They were practically family.

"The four of us..." Virgil sniffled and took a deep breath. "Us, and Logan."

Patton's eyes widened as tears started to fall freely from Virgil's face, and was surprised when the other guy, Roman, took Virgil's hand in his own and gave it a light kiss. Patton blinked.

"Who's Logan?"

The devastated look on their faces said more than Patton knew.

About a week later, Patton was attending the funeral of someone he didn't know. He felt silly when everyone would come up and apologize to him for his loss, and he felt awkward being around the crying family who knew him, but he couldn't remember them.

More than anything, Patton felt guilty. He'd apparently known this 'Logan' for years, having met in college, but all of those memories were erased. He didn't feel anything towards someone he was supposedly in love with.
