Patton was standing in the kitchen, putting away the dishes from the dishwasher. He was chatting with Logan, who was standing beside him. Patton would hand Logan a plate and he would stack it away in their cabinet.

"I wasn't trying to upset him," Patton whined, bending down to pick up another plate from the washer. "I was only checking on him to make sure he was alright."

Logan took the offered plate and stacked it with the others. "You know how Virgil can be, Patton. None of us can always stand your smothering."

Shocked, Patton looked Logan in the eye as he handed him the last plate. Logan stared back as they paused, both still holding the plate. Patton let go, still looking at Logan with a mild hurt expression as he stacked the plate and closed the cabinet.

Patton was aware of how odd Logan had been acting all day, but he definitely couldn't help himself from worrying as they talked while emptying the dishwasher.

Moving closer to the other, Patton looked Logan up and down, trying to see if there was anything wrong with him. Logan stared back in confusion, but his face remained neutral.

Now only a few inches away from Logan's face, Patton looked at him, trying to read his emotions. It was normally easy for Patton to do this with any of them, but he couldn't read anything from Logan's expression.

Flicking his eyes downwards upon seeing something out of the corner of his eye, Patton noticed something on Logan's neck. It was square and skin-color, almost like a Band-Aid, and it was attached to Logan's skin, a corner of it peeking out from under the collar of his shirt.

"Pat- what-?" Logan tried to ask what he was doing just as Patton reached forward and grabbed a hold of the edge of patch, having a theory.

Ripping it off, Patton pulled away quickly out of Logan's reach. Patton glanced at the patch to read 'NEUTRAL' written on it before looking back at Logan to watch his reaction.

Logan puts a hand to his neck where the patch was attached to him, face pinched as if in pain. Within a few seconds, Logan started to tear up, and Patton was surprised.

Inching away from Patton, Logan's eyes were flitting around the room, clearly panicking. Patton stares and can now read the emotions on his face, but they weren't the ones he was expecting: sadness, heartbreak, confusion, fear?

Watching him back up slowly, Patton gives him a look, silently telling him 'don't you dare' as if anticipating what he was trying to do.

Logan bolts out of the room.

Patton tears off after him, yelling for him to stop. "Logan!"

Ending up in Logan's bedroom, Patton has to grab the doorframe to stop his momentum. He watches Logan slide to the floor and pull a shoebox off the bottom of his bookshelf. Patton rushes into the room as Logan rips the lid of the box open, pulling out another patch and trying to put it on.

Patton practically tackles him to the ground and kicks the box away, the patches spilling all over the floor. Logan fumbles for one of the patches as Patton wraps his arms around him, trying scoot the two of them away.

"Patton let go of me!" Logan squeals with an uncharacteristically high-pitched voice. He's squirming as tears run down his face. He's trying to grab one of the patches but Patton has his arms wrapped tightly around him, restricting the movement of his arms. "I need one!"

Logan is pushing strongly against Patton, trying to get out of his hold, but Patton wasn't going to let go. He was tearing up as Logan was screaming and sobbing, fighting against him.

Gradually, Logan's struggles become less strong, the emotions shown on his face weakening his body. He was still letting out choked sobs, tears running down his face in streams and Patton could feel the warm drops hitting his arms.

Patton loosens his tight hold to be gentler as Logan starts shaking. His eyes were pinched in pain and he was gasping for air, out of breath.

Feeling near-frantic over Logan's actions, Patton wiggles Logan to sit across his lap, pulling his head to rest on his chest. "Shh shh shh it's okay, it's okay..."

Having not experienced Logan ever acting like this, Patton didn't know specifically what to do to help him. He alternated rubbing Logan's back and arms, and would run his fingers through his hair soothingly, all while whispering "shh shh".

He puts his chin on Logan's head and rocks the two of them back and forth as Logan continues to sob and whimper.

"It's okay... you don't need them..." Patton presses a light kiss to the top of Logan's head before replacing his cheek. He holds Logan a little bit tighter when he snuggles more into his chest. "You're allowed to feel."

...

Theory off of my theory: what if Logan asked one of the others if he could take a 'sample' from them? They have no idea what that means, but they accept. Logan somehow like, duplicates their emotions to put it in a patch.

This is based off of the Doctor Who episode: Gridlock. If you haven't seen it, it's basically what it seems like. You wear a patch that gives you a specific emotion. It can even get rid of your current emotion while wearing it.

I made it Logan-centric because of my interpretation off of a small instance from the Can Lying Be Good Sanders Sides video: I WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THE DOCTOR WHO REFERENCE. So, I'm pulling this stuff kind of out of thin air and based on my own headcanons/theories, but bear with me. I was surprised when Logan was the one that caught that Thomas made a DW reference. Logan responded with "Fantastic" which is a 9th Doctor quote. For those of you who haven't seen DW, the 9th Doctor has just come out of a really bad war that annihilated his entire species (so the 9th Doctor is the last of his kind) and he's very lonely. What if Logan quoted the 9th Doctor because he relates to that specific Doctor, and like him, Logan is lonely? Awe...
