This is based in the same AU as my oneshot: Five Minutes. Can be read stand-alone, though.

Something was troubling Patton, and although Logan was not the best at reading emotions- he was terrible at it, actually- even he could tell. He knew Patton well enough to know that something was wrong.
Lately, Logan had noticed that Patton would make excuses to not be around him. When they did hang out, Logan knew that Patton would act differently. He hoped there wasn't anything wrong with Patton, but he knew that if his best friend was ill or injured, he could just heal himself.
Patton could heal injuries and sicknesses so long as they weren't too drastic; he couldn't heal anything fatal. He had found a calling working in a hospital. Any major sicknesses, Patton would heal slightly over time. It wasn't like he was cheating death by doing this, but he could give people more time by easing their pains.
Logan in turn could read minds. It hadn't helped him secure a job anywhere he wanted, other than as a police officer. He hadn't wanted to be a detective, seeing as he didn't like social jobs as much. His calling was in education. His power helped him here, actually.
Seeing the frequency in which kids lie, Logan could easily read their minds. It wasn't a power he generally liked, but seeing that he wasn't any good at understanding people without his powers, he didn't take it for granted.
In such case with Patton, Logan didn't have a clue what was eating at him, and nothing he said would help. Patton wouldn't tell him on his own, and with all his smarts and common sense, Logan hadn't had a clue how to help Patton if he wouldn't tell him. He just wanted to help Patton.
I'm so stupid.
He perked up, hearing Patton's voice. When Logan looked across the room to where Patton was sitting and watching TV, it hadn't appeared that Patton had spoken.
"Patton?" Logan asked, gaining his roommate's attention. "Did you say something?"
After Patton shook his head and turned back to the TV, Logan cursed at himself, realizing that he had accidentally read Patton's thoughts. Although he knew he shouldn't, Logan felt like he didn't have a choice if he wanted to help. He listened.
Logan would never like me.
Logan's eyes widened, not understanding why Patton thought he didn't like him. "Patton, you know you're my best friend, right?"
Patton turned towards him. Logan watched his face fall but Patton smiled through it and nodded. "Of course I know that."
"Then why-" Logan started, but cut himself off. He couldn't ask why Patton thought that he didn't like him without revealing that he read his mind.
Gosh he probably thinks I'm stupid, too.
"You're not!" Logan blurt out before he could stop it. He couldn't let Patton think something like that when it wasn't true.
Patton raised an eyebrow, confused. He got up, still wrapped in his blanket, and came to sit next to Logan at their dining room table. "Not what? I don't know what you're talking about."
Oh gosh, he's going to say he wants to move out, or that he doesn't want to be friends anymore, or that he never wanted to be my friend in the first place...
"You're not..." Logan licked his lips, still trying to decide if he was going to tell Patton. "Not..."
I love him so much and he'll never love me back.
Although Logan prided himself on not getting overemotional over things, hearing Patton think that broke his heart. "Patton, you're not stupid. You are my best friend, and I don't want to move out... and I..."
Patton frowned, his eyebrows squinting in thought, before he flushed and anger seeped onto his face. "You read my thoughts? You promised me you would never do that!"
"I didn't mean to!" Logan defended himself, not wanting to upset Patton further. "I only wanted to help you, since you've been acting so strange around me, and then... I could just hear what you were thinking."
Still obviously slightly angry, Patton didn't respond. His cheeks were red, starting to realize some of the things that Logan heard.
"Patton, please look at me," Logan asked him, and he waited until finally Patton's face met his. His eyes softened when he saw that Logan was being genuine. "I'm sorry for reading your thoughts. I know those are private, and I shouldn't have allowed myself to listen to them."
Logan pushed his chair out away from the table and grabbed Patton's hand in between both of his. "I return your feelings, Patton. I... I love you too."
Patton didn't respond. He was as secretive as he always was with his thoughts, and Logan couldn't tell what he was feeling by studying his face. After several seconds, Patton's frown turned into a smile and he took a few breaths to calm himself down from being overemotional.
"You know, Logan. For a guy who can read minds, you have a really hard time understanding people." Patton got up from his seat across from Logan and sat in Logan's lap, clasping his hands behind Logan's neck.
Logan smiled at Patton, glad that Patton wasn't upset by him violating his thoughts. He leaned in to kiss Patton. "Maybe you can help me."
After allowing them to share a gentle kiss, Patton pulled back and looked into Logan's eyes.
"Do you know what I'm thinking right now?" Patton traced circles on Logan's collarbone. Shaking his head, Logan admitted that he didn't. Patton smiled and leaned back in to his lips. "Good. Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, would we?"

Yes, this took a more sexual turn than I intended? I dunno. I'll write implications. I'm not afraid of it, but I know I'm not very good at it. Thoughts?
I guess I should mention, if anyone ever wants to submit a prompt or request to me, go for it. I'll probably write anything (just figured I might as well mention).
Embarrassing confession I bet to make if I was wrong about the last video (which I was...): I talk to myself a whole heckin' lot. Arguments, debates, intense mirror confrontations, all with myself; yup, that's me.
