Due to an overwhelming number of comments asking for a part 2 (like seriously, I got so many requests that I'd never gotten before on anything else, ever), this is sort of somewhat a continuation from my oneshot, Had Enough, with Deceit. It's part 18 in this oneshot book.
It will follow the same canon as that oneshot, but isn't necessarily a direct correlation/part 2. This can definitely be read stand-alone, but I'd recommend going back and reading that one if you haven't read it or don't remember it.
...
It had been months since Deceit had disappeared, adopting a newfound absence and silence, but Logan still had not fully recovered. The only thing keeping him sane was his usually logical demeanor.
Once his physical wounds had begun to heal, the others thought he was okay. His face was no longer pinched in pain, and he no longer fought against them about it. But still occasionally, the others would get a glimpse of just how unchanged he was on the inside.
Something that wasn't known to the others at first, but had become increasingly obvious to them, was that Logan still saw Deceit. As in, he would hallucinate the corrupted Side near him, and would freak out, claiming he was there and that he was going to come after him, but the others knew Deceit wasn't there.
At other times, Logan would seem completely normal. He acted as though the events that happened never did. One would think that it didn't; but it did. Most often around Patton, Logan would act differently, and Patton would always notice.
Even more often, Logan would glance fearfully over at him, staring in apprehension until Patton would look back. Patton missed the old Logan.
Along with his flitting glances around wherever he was, Logan wouldn't let any of them approach him from behind, which was how it seemed Deceit got the drop on him in the first time. Logan was hyperaware of anyone within proximity of him, and if anyone was behind him, he would flip around and position himself so that he could see everyone.
Logan wouldn't let any of them in his room anymore. The first time anyone had tried, he'd shrieked, yelling at Roman to get out and slamming the door behind him. No one tried again after that. They knew he feared one of them being Deceit in disguise, as it had happened once before.
Heck, he wouldn't even allow himself to be alone with any one of them.
This led to the creation of a safe word phrase, as proposed by Virgil, so that whenever Logan was in doubt about who he was actually with, he could just casually ask the specific question to feel reassured. "What do you prefer in your smoothies?"
It would always surprise whichever one of them he was with, not expecting anything was wrong until he would ask the question. Their face would drop and their heart would sink, hating to know that Logan couldn't feel safe with any of them. "Strawberries."
Logan would nod, returning back to whatever he was doing.
Their safe phrase idea failed them when Logan started to think more about it, having a realization that just as easily as his friends knew, so could Deceit.
"Strawberries." Patton stood up and moved closer to Logan, hands up. Logan hadn't even asked the question, but he'd begun to freak out nonetheless. He shook his head side to side, trying not to listen, and wouldn't look at Patton, trying to back away from him to the best of his ability. "Strawberries, Logan! Strawberries!"
Patton sat next to Logan on the couch and moved closer to him, trying to settle his nervousness, but this only caused further struggles. "Get away!"
"Logan, it's me!" Patton wrapped his arms around his shoulders, pulling him close to try and stop his thrashing. His restraining cuddle surrounded Logan's flailing arms, holding him in a tight grip, but it still didn't work.
Yelling out and crying in terror, Logan attracted the attention of the others, who ran into the room, ready to help in any way they would. They saw the situation and understood.
They had all found out that he was the real Patton, not Deceit. They believed him again, but the damage had already been done. Logan was hurt, and although his physical ailments had healed, his trust and friendship was not so easily mended.
Who he thought was Patton had tricked him once, and he couldn't help but live in fear for it happening again.
...
I didn't know exactly where to go with this, but I knew that in the development of a 'part 2' to Had Enough, I was not going to write what happened directly after the original ended.
Hope this was good enough.
