Slight Logicality included.
...
Thomas looks up from his laptop from where he was going through some comments from one of his new Sanders Sides videos. One of them got him thinking.
"Logan!" Thomas calls out, and the logical Side rises up in his normal spot and looks around, seeing Thomas sitting on the couch.
"Greetings, Thomas," Logan nods at him. "How may I be of assistance?"
Thomas nods and gestures to the blinds. "Can you go stand where Morality normally stands?"
Logan frowns in confusion, but does as asked. Once he was settled in Patton's normal spot, he looks at Thomas expectantly. After thinking for a few seconds, Thomas points at Logan and changes his clothes to Patton's normal outfit in its entirety.
Looking down at the change, Logan frowns at Thomas but didn't get a chance to make any remarks before Thomas cut him off. "Pick Roman or Virgil."
Still confused, Logan adjusts his (or Patton's) glasses. "What?"
Thomas shrugs, disregarding his confusion. "Just choose."
Ignoring his confusion, Logan settles on the fact that Thomas would let him know eventually. He answers "Virgil" without too much hesitation.
"Okay, so now don't say or do anything. I'm testing a theory." Thomas waits for confirmation, and Logan nods, understanding the importance in theory-testing, and makes a note to not do or say anything. Thomas studies Logan again and gestures to his own hair. "Can you change your hair a little bit?"
Logan shrugs and shifts his hair around until Thomas was satisfied with it. Thomas summons Virgil and the darker Side shows up like he normally does, greeting Thomas with a sarcastic remark.
Casually, Thomas returns Virgil's greeting. "Hey Virge. Can you help Patton and me with an idea?"
Logan doesn't react, as asked, although he didn't understand what Thomas was playing at. Virgil furrows his eyebrows and looks at Logan dressed as Patton, confused. Virgil pointed. "That's Logan."
Thomas' eyes light up, looking at Logan again, not convinced there was anything that would have given him away. "So you CAN tell each other apart?!"
He laughs as Logan and Virgil look confused. Logan goes back to his spot, changing into his usual outfit and fixing his hair back. Thomas summons Roman and Patton. "Hey Kiddo, what's up?"
"Yes Thomas," Logan straightens his tie. "I would also like to know what that is all about."
Virgil looks in between Logan and Thomas, wondering what was going on. Roman and Patton looked between the three of them, also confused as to what Thomas was getting at.
Thomas finally makes to stand up from the couch and stood in his normal spot in the middle of them all. "Let me explain... I was curious to see if you guys, since you all look like me, could tell each other apart without having obvious clues such as clothes or manner of speaking."
"Ah." Logan nods, understanding why he tasked with what he was.
Virgil raises a hand. "So you were testing me?"
"Yeah, basically," Thomas agrees. "Did anything give him away? I thought he looked exactly as Patton does."
Patton scrunched his eyes. "Huh?"
"He had me dress up as you," Logan briefly explained, Patton responding with "ah".
Virgil shrugged. "Nothing gave him away. We can just... tell."
"How?" Thomas was genuinely curious.
Roman grins. "We all just have different feelings. It's like a Spidey sense."
"Technically," Logan clarifies. "It's more of a presence- aura if you will- that we all give off."
Thomas nods, interested. "So you can tell each apart at all times? Even if you were all dressed exactly the same?"
"Yup!" Patton nods enthusiastically. "Even if we're naked."
"Let's not prove that fact..." Virgil rubs his eyes, really hoping he wasn't about to be dragged into another thing he didn't want to do.
"Agreed." Logan nods, Roman and Patton nodding in concession. They would have done it if asked, not seeing why there was a reason to be embarrassed about being naked around each other since they all looked the same.
"Alright well this was very informing." Thomas smiles, thanking them.
Logan sinks down. "Glad to be of assistance."
"Don't test me again," Virgil warns as he sinks out as well.
Roman sinks down, smirking. "Coulda tested me, Thomas. I wouldn't have minded."
Patton made to sink down, but Thomas stopped him. "Wait, Patton. Last question: Do I have a recognizable presence too?"
"Oh yeah," Patton nods. "Definitely. Yours is sort of a mix of all of ours, which would make sense."
Nodding, Thomas thanks him and Patton sinks out, smiling. Immediately upon entering the mind, Patton found a pair of arms snake around his waist.
He smiles wide, closing his eyes as a chin leans down to rest on his right shoulder. "Hey Logan."
"I could never mimic your presence," Logan whispers, pulling Patton into a warm hug. "It's exhilarating."
...
Didn't know how to end this, so it ended up turning into slight Logicality *shrugs*.
This idea stemmed from one of my last one-shots where I was curious about if the Sides could recognize each other without using clothes or obvious speaking patterns as clues. So there ya go.
I am placing a bet that this next Sanders Sides video is going to be Roman's room, and it it's NOT, then I will post an embarrassing secret of mine (I am that confident) in an AN.
