Chapter one

When I came out of the bathroom I put on some clothes and went downstairs.
   I saw my mum sitting on the couch reading a newspaper.
I walked quietly to the dinning table and saw my brother David already finishing his breakfast. he looked up at me and said

"Sarah you don't look good"

"whatever' I said and sat down

"Sarah what's wrong? I heard my mum called.

"nothing, I'm fine mum" I answered.

"she's lying" my brother said smiling.

"I'm not " I denied

"Sarah......... my mum started

"mum keep reading I'm fine" I cut her off

then I turned to my little brother

"I'm gonna skin you alive' I said squeezing my face

he stock out his tongue at me.
I just ignored him and ate my breakfast.

                              
after breakfast I went back to my room and picked up my phone to call my bestfriend, and I saw a missed call from my favorite School Teacher, my chemistry teacher. he was a family friend and we attend the same Church.
I am one of his best student and I usually say I'm his first son's godmother.
I decided to call him back and he picked on the second ring.

"Hello Sarah"

"Hi,  good morning sir"  I said.

"Morning,  how are you doing?

"I'm fine sir" I replied

"That's good to hear Sarah....actually I called to ask if your going to make it to the student's conference this year." I heard him say.

"Yes I'm going to be there" I replied.

" OK ......I was wondering if you could volunteer and help me with the registration of participants. The person responsible for that is ill and has not recovered."

"Owk sir , its fine with me. I'll be glad to help"

"OK Sarah thanks, my regards to your parents"

"Bye sir, '

I ended the call and called my best friend Rita. Unlike me Rita had always been lucky in her relationships, she had always told me I let Sam control me, but then I always disagree.

"Sarah sarah" Rita said when she picked

"Hello Rita_riiiii" I said and we both laughed.

"How are you girl?

"I'm fine oo "

"That's good dear, I told you to wipe that idiot off your mind"

"I'm trying " I said stressing the last word.

"Ok dear I'll come keep you company" she suggested

"Noo don't bother, I'm fine "

Rita has been so kind like a sister, she had spend every day at my place since the holiday began. But I want her to have some time to herself, she didn't have to treat me like a baby.

" oh Sarah I want to be there for you" she said

"I know but I'm fine"
" and I'll be going shopping with my mum" I lied.

"Ok dear, so anything new? She asked

" yeah,  I will be assisting  Mr Barde with participants registration at the youth conference" I said

" that's good"

"Yes ' I agreed

"It will be a good distraction "

" you're attending right? I asked

"Of course" she replied

"Will Sam be there? She asked

" I don't think so, stuffs like this are not his thing' I replied

"Yeah he'll rather go to parties with Jerry" she said

" absolutely " I agreed

" this Jerry does nothing but throws parties "

" he's unbelievable" I said

" does he even have parents? She asked

" his parents are mostly out of the country and he's left with his big brother, but they're birds of the same feather "  I answered

" that's why they succeeded in turning their house into a club" she said sarcastically

"Haha I don't know how I survived those guys " I said

"Well enough of Jerry boo" she said

I laughed at that
Due to the fact that he's a big time player and calls every girl bae,  everyone has resolve to calling him 'Jerry boo' because literarily he's everyone's boo.

I heard my mum called me downstairs

" I'll call you later " I told Rita

"Owk......bye...'" She toned ; just like Anna in frozen

"Bye Ri-ri " I laughed.

*bae means babe or girlfriend.

I stood in front of the venue for the conference.
The conference was going to last for three days, I guess that's why they choose this place. It was big, (a college for Agricultural sciences). The conference was for senior secondary students only.
Its been a while since I arrived, and I was waiting for mr Barde. I was early because it was my dad who drove me and he always like keeping to time, unlike me. I am not too mindful of time.

After a few minutes mr Barde arrived.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting" he apologized

"Its ok sir, I just came" I lied

I had been here for more than 20 minutes.

"Ok let's go in " he said

I walked beside him as we made our way to the entrance, we met the gateman at the gate and he offered some help with our bags.
When we got in we made arrangements on how the registration will be. We decided on three points, because mr Barde got another volunteer. A corp member.
We got everything in place and waited for when the registration will commence.

I went out and called my cousin brother,

"Hello mike" I said when he picked

"Hi barbie " he replied

I knew then it was Micah, cos he's  always calling me names

"Why are you answering Michael's phone"  I asked

"Because we live together, and we're brothers" he answered

"Whatever, where is he" I asked

" in the bathroom " he replied

" OK , hope you're bringing some of your mum's cookies for me?

"Hell no!  he replied

"Please...." I begged

"Oh don't use that innocent voice on me, I'm not bringing anything" he said laughing

" that's why Mike is my favorite cousin, I know he'll never say no to me"

"Haha you wish" he replied
" Sarah I heard you will be registering participants at the  conference"

"Yes " I answered

"Which point are you " he asked

" point B" I replied

" OK , we'll come and register with you. And please Sarah two of my friends are coming, I'll direct them to you so you'll put us in the same group and hostel."

" how much are you paying" I joked

"Two slaps and a hundred insults" he replied

" screw you" I said

"Whatever ' he replied.
